The QB was a redshirt freshman, but otherwise I don't think they were particularly young.
They took a slow, undersized running back 6th overall. They’re first pick was a bad one.
I think a significant attitude adjustment may have occurred between then and now.

Jalen Travis is probably the only guy left with a reasonable belief in getting drafted today while Verdon, Singleton, and Hufford are probably UDFAs.
A new pope might be selected before Shedeur Sanders.

I think Travis is the only one left that will get drafted. Probably in the 5th or 6th. Verdon has an outside shot but I'm guessing his injuries will prevent him from getting drafted.
And just as I type that, the Colts take Travis in the 4th!

Guessing Jalen and its variations was a very popular baby name in the mid 2000s.
BPA at a need position + Pete Carroll type running back. It’s not a bad pick.
49ers defense was 29th against the run. Defensive line was biggest need. They need them all.
I feel Verdon gets drafted if teams did their homework (realized he was injured last season & his abilities & talent when he's 100%): 6th or 7th round. Potential as a 'poor man's Kyle Hamilton'
