2025 GA Parking Scalpers??

Related topic. We are several hours away from Ames so we stay over after night games or the night before for early games. Rooms that normally go for $120 a night across the board go to $500. I understand the concept of what the market will bear but my gosh isn't this a bit ridiculous? In addition to the rate they also slap a no cancellations allowed restriction on any reservation which I did not see on the site before I booked my room for the Arizona game. Is the only workaround on this to book a room at least 30 miles out of town or am I missing something?

Prices won't go up next year. JP's strategy is to raise the price the year we host Iowa (6 home games) so he can turn around an say that he doesn't raise prices when we have 7 home games... This has been a consistent pattern.
I'll take that bet. Ill bet everything is at least 10% across the board increases. We've got a HUGE budget problem.

Single game passes should exceed the cost of the lowest level Cyclone Club donation plus parking. Get people to start donating and they will likely continue to do so.

Same. Would’ve loved to stay in Ames following the BYU game, but the hotels were insane. Hoping for an early kick so we don’t get home after midnight. I’d had thought that all the hotels going up would have driven competition, but they must continue to fill up.

That was before the dept was facing a $20+ million budget shortfall. I'd be shocked if prices don't increase for next season.

Probably, and it will also depend on which direction you're coming from/going to. At this point of the season, you're probably going to end up not much closer than Jefferson, Marshalltown, or somewhere in the DSM metro if you want a "decent" room and "decent" rate on a home football weekend.

You should see what the hotels did for graduation this last spring.

Apparently they didnt realize graduation was on a different weekend than normal. So all kinds of people who booked early booked for $150 +/-. A month before graduation they all realized it, and went back and jacked the prices up on reservations to $500. When people called to find out what happened and to complain they just flat out cancelled their reservations. People complained to the head office and most got no response, basically they were just told oh well, pay it or go somewhere else.

And that was people that had a reserved contract with receipt. Hotels have gotten absolutely ridiculous in the last few years.
