With December 29 being a non-conference game, the likely Big 12 opener will be January 3.

That leaves 19 dates (two a week) between January 3 and March 7 to complete 18 games.

So we're down to 18 Big 12 games. The Big East challenge (Marquette last year) is gone.

Three on Maui traded for three in Vegas. Iowa is still on the schedule.

We've added back Purdue and Mississippi State.

Still on net down one "peer" game.

Probably going to revert to the previous 18-game with 6 peer/7 buy, is best guess, as others have mentioned.

If there is an additional peer/near-peer, it almost has to come between CyHawk and the Dec. 29 game, or possibly between Stonehill and Players Era.

Curious what people in the discussion might think is realistic for additional non-buy/small conference.

Getting Purdue H/A + neutral Mississippi State suggests options aren't quite as limited now, due to consistent high-level performance.

Maybe there'd be interest from MWC/transitional-New Pac.

If not, A-10/American seems reasonable. Opponents in those leagues looking for a boost and fairly low-risk of being "detrimental loss" for ISU.

Obviously UNI or Drake aren't going to happen for other reasons but I'd look at a couple other Valley schools that might be willing to take a buy.

Illinois State, Belmont, Murray, Southern and UIC all have a real good shot to be in that 80-130 range where the games would have a chance to be at least somewhat interesting and still give a metrics boost.

Mississippi head coach is from Iowa so I'm sure this is cool to come back close to home.

Would be cool to do some more scheduling with Wake Forest and Indiana with both those head coaches from Iowa also.

At least call them Maroon Mississippi or something so your trash talk is intentional
