NBA: *** 2025-26 NBA Thread ***

This is the first thing that always gets mentioned. He shot 35.8% this year, that's "good" but I wouldn't say it's great by modern standards for a guard. It's not that much better than Jefferson at 34.5%. I think the "he's an elite shooter" narrative is driven too much by a small number of highlight-reel logo-threes.

He actually didn't quite qualify for leaderboards on three-point shooting last year (have to average 2.50 makes/game and he averaged 2.49) although that threshold seems rather high, there are only six players qualified in the entire Big 10.

Stirtz won't be the focus of the defense in the NBA, but the shots are also longer and the defenders are better. Niang made it as a three-point specialist but he's 6'7".

I'll eat crow if I'm wrong!
He had to create everything on that offense and play stupid minutes.

He'll be a decent depth PG/combo guy. He sucked defensively, but maybe that had to do with the fact that he played so many minutes and if he got into foul trouble they were in trouble as a team.

Seems like a bench guard that can hit some open 3s, handle the ball that will probably struggle defensively. I guess for a team like OKC that is ready to win now they'd take a guy that can contribute some minutes now in a specific role rather than take a flier on a high risk/high reward guy.

Spurs trying to put together the Monstars.

Wemby - Ht: 7'4" WS: 8' and 236 Lbs
Quaintance - Ht: 6'10" WS: 7'5" and 253 Lbs (at 18 Years Old)
Tarris Reed - HT: 6'10" WS: 7'4" and 263 Lbs
I like that Reed pickup for them. It looks like they are going to contend, particularly if they figure something out on moving D Fox.

Was just thinking about 1995 when Donnie Boyce who wrecked his leg during the first game of the Big VIII tourney still went several spots ahead of Hoiberg.

Not sure I understand this move for the wolves. Trading away a fan favorite for another ball dominant guard to put next to Ant?
This is a bizzare trade in general. Hornets just had a great 2nd half and some real momentum for first time in long time. Thought they'd want to see out their young backcourt at least a little. Pretty perplexing both ways imo

This completely frees up Ant. Ant is not a PG.
Depending on Balls Durability and everything that comes with him. I have major questions about who's playing Frontcourt minutes though. Reid was going to be PF after Randle trade now they're both gone. Right now it's Gobert and a bunch of guards.

I initially read the deal as 3 1st round picks and a swap but it's opposite, 1 1st round pick and 3 swaps. Unless Hornets are better than Wolves in near future Which I think is unlikely that's not a lot of return for an All Star though as I mentioned Ball comes with risk

What could go wrong counting on Gobert in the playoffs? I'm not a hater but he does have limitations. Trading Reid is bizarre.

Well it wasn't really and option to try and just run it back with the same squad, so props to the Timberwolves for making moves and trying.

That said, I personally don't think Lamelo really contributes much to winning basketball. He's an inefficient scorer, injury prone and negative value defender. It will certainly help Ant out and they have the defensive chops with Ant/McDaniels/Gobert to cover the Ball's shortcomings there.

Bigger issue for Minnesota will be the frontcourt. Gobert turns 34 tomorrow. Other than an aging Rudy, they're going to need a big year 2 jump from Beringer (who I actually think is a pretty promising prospect) and have to find a 4 with limited flexibility to spend.

They've got to be making another move to shore up the front court, right? Shannon seemed to be on the verge of breaking out and then they trade for two more guards? With Randall and Naz gone, there's nothing left but Gobert and Gobert is gonna Gobert.
