*** 2025-26 ISU WBB Season Thread ***

I agree with the guarded optimism, but I have a big concern.

Our defense was mediocre at best last year. We couldn't fight through picks, left shooters open. We lost to UNI by 12!

And we had a problem with teams that played in your face D.

Until I see a huge step forward on D and an ability to handle pressure....

Last years team didn’t have the athleticism to stay in front on the perimeter. This year should be vastly improved

Nice article in the Register about Brown and the lineup.

“Crooks and Brown will start along with guards Jada Williams, Kenzie Hare and Arianna Jackson. He mentioned Sydney Harris, Reese Beaty and Evangelia Paulk being rotation options.”

Our guards are small, but I think our perimeter defense will be much better as you said. I’m concerned that we didn’t do anything to improve our interior defense. Bill said EP is more comfortable as a guard, so we have the same players at the 4 and 5 as last year. Hopefully they will show improvement. An athletic 4 or 5 is a tough matchup for us.

The Backuo 4 and 5s will be an issue for us. I’m more worried about lengthy 5s than athletic. Audi struggles with length and makes her inefficient

Addy can hold her own on defense. Harris and Audi both struggle on defense with players long and athletic. Williams is ok, but she is a pretty small 5. It would have been nice to get an athletic backup 4, but those are hard to find.

That’s something I e alluded to. Audi needs to improve her footwork to become more effective on D. Crossing fingers….

Preseason All-American 1st team announced. Only Big 12 players mentioned were Miles and Littlepage-Buggs getting votes. Crooks received zero votes.

And she has a very nice voice too! In one of the interviews that I saw she said she is now learning to play the violin! So many talents.

And here i am 78 and still learning to tie my shoes!

Got some insight from Illinois St scrimmage - Overall good showing.. Sounded like we started the big 3 along with AJ & Kenzie but most got playing time. Jada played well on both ends, left early with hit to nose, FR Beaty was another good option at PG spot. Addy is getting back to 100% after injury. EP seems to be a nice spark on the floor. Audi was good as we know.

Excited to watch next Tuesdays exhibition.
