I get the feeling that when Penn State made the move to fire their guy, they were thinking they would have the pick of the litter on this rounds of coaches and then LSU, Florida and other jobs opened up, pushing it down in the picking order. Still would be an unbelievable job to have, just have to beat Michigan and Ohio State from time to time and coast by on the taken for the rest of the games.

As a Raiders fan (before they left the second time) I actually thought Al Davis was out of line with his comments about Kiffin at the time.

Agree. Auburn fans were LIVID when Chizik was announced as the guy. I suppose winning a natty sure helped fans get over it.
Probably not a great comparison as the only reason Chizik was hired was that AD Jay Jacobs knew that Gene was aware of the decades long pay-for-play going on behind the scenes there with some major boosters, and that the Chiz would be very willing to look the other way.
