***2025-26 CFB Coaching Carousel***

They were talking about it on Game Day this morning, most thought it was only fair to the players that if Kiffin takes the LSU job to allow him to coach the playoff games. I say, screw that, the Ole Miss AD should tell him, "you want coach in a playoff game, maybe you can at LSU" and move on.

And hamper your school's chances to win said playoff game? Ole Miss is in the middle of their best season in something like 40 years. They have a chance at a national title. Is it so important to get back at a guy who spurned you, that you'd disadvantage yourself in the playoff?

The issue is the rift you create in the locker room between the players he's taking with him and the players staying.

It'll be a culture mess regardless i suppose but it's just really hard to sell "we're all in this together" in that situation

Just shy of 14.3 million a yr. F*ck that if I was a LSU alum when they come around asking for donations.
Have you met LSU alums with decent money? Especially the older alums. I've hunted many times with a group of them. They'll pay it.

That rift will be there regardless of if they allow him to coach in the playoff or not. You'd also be giving Kiffin incentive to try to be petty, himself.

Wouldn't most Ole Miss fans trade a few more games with a lame duck at the helm, if it meant they brought home a natty? It seems like a pretty clear "cut off your nose to spite your face" scenario.

Pull the Bo Schembechler. When Bill Frieder announced he was leaving to Arizona St.,Bo said I want a Michigan man to coach in the NCAA tourney and let Frieder go and let Steve Fisher coach the team that went to the Final Four. Easier in basketball than football I would think.

That only happens if you lose the playoff game, IF you allow him to coach in the game, and he loses, everyone will talk about the distraction of him taking the LSU job. If you win without him, no one will say a word about him not being there. Do you want to give him all the free PR for LSU a conference revival all the way through the playoffs? Screw that, he made is decision to leave, let him live with that decision, any program has to be bigger than the coach.

Some pretty big ifs there. I just don't understand why anyone would purposely give themselves a disadvantage like that. It's like they're throwing in the towel. And Lane gets to say to all of those players "Look, I wanted to finish what we started, this year, but the school won't let me". He could use it to entice them into following him. Why invite more collateral damage than there already is likely to be?

You are not throwing in the towel, you get the players to circle around the idea he left us, he could have stayed and chose not too. Kiffin quit on his team, not the other way around. The players are all going to do what is best for them money wise. You let him coach, is he going to refuse to take his former players with him to LSU? No, he is taking the better players that will go whether he is the coach for the play off game or not.

Here's the dumb thing. Lane will probably be fired at LSU in 5 years anyway. All of this for someone that likely won't be around.

They're losing everybody anyway.
