Testifying
Nice to see US men pick it up defensively in the second half. That's been my main concern.

Holiday, white and booker heavy minutes over Tatum shows they’re just focusing on defense I think, removing our cyclone bias. If that’s the case neither Hali or Brunson would’ve been great additions.
**** that. Hali and Tatum need to play. Dawn Staley did single out Tyrese’s good attitude despite not playing.

Halliburton is either hurt or Kerr is an *******. One of the two.
Halliburton was always going to be the last guy off the bench on this team. If the U.S. is struggling shooting, then he’s a valuable piece off the bench for a few minutes. And he’s a great teammate. But he’s a defensive liability and Curry, Jrue, Derrick White, even LeBron can probably operate this offense better than Hali at the point.

Now Embiid. That guy can gtfo. No idea why he’s getting minutes (granted we’ll probably need him if we play France due to their length)

Dawn Staley praised Hali’s attitude through this. And where’s Tatum? Tired of seeing Few on the bench. You telling me he’s a defensive coach?

Hali and Tatum are both liabilities defensively, it's that simple. Embiid is my only gripe with the current rotation but hey, they dominated the best team in the group.

Edit: and just a shot in the dark regarding Few. He fields international teams better than any coach in CBB so maybe there's a thought about him knowing the international game better than a lot. Just rules, style of play, etc... bringing that perspective to the teams prep.

You can pick up your pivot foot and as long as you don't come down on it it's not a travel. Think of a layup, right down (pivot foot), left down and shoot. Looks like a travel in slow cases like that but isn't
Layup is different than if you pick up your dribble, establish a pivot foot and you are stationary. If you leap off both feet at the same time and get rid of the ball then fine, but if you lift your pivot foot 1st and then jump of your other foot then you are basically going for a 2 step layup from a stationary position.

Nope. If you're pivoting on 1 foot. You can pick it up and dangle around on the other for as long as you want. The second your pivot goes down its a travel. There's a reason so many think euro steps are travels when they aren't and what you just said is that reason

This is correct, but I think the only caveat is you are required to pass or shoot if you lift the pivot. If you lift the pivot and then dribble, that is a violation.

If the offense stagnates at all it’s a coaching error to not play Hali because he’s an huge offensive weapon running offense on a loaded team like this. The way they hit shots today it was fine. That was like a 120-130 point equivalent with nba rules.

Tatum is a better all around player than several guys in this 10 man rotation and can defend in paint better than Tyrese but maybe they value even a slight defensive edge.

Yep. The layup example, you establish your pivot the second you pick up the ball. Right down, then shoot off left. Doesn't matter how fast it happens

It makes sense situationally to play top defenders and deprioritize offense, KD going 8/8 in 9 first half minutes helps that choice. If they have a stretch where the offensive isn’t creative they’d be crazy not to give both of them a run.

Outside of LeBron and Haliburton there aren’t a lot of players who I’d describe as main strength is creating offense for others.

Holiday needs to be a total beast on defense to make sense playing exclusively over Tatum.

I listened to a recent half hour Nyt interview with Embiid and he failed to win me over. I think the media personalities that have been hyping him over Jokic the past few years are laughable. If AD is healthy he probably fits in better with this mix of egos.

Well, as much of a jerk Jordan was , Kerr was the only one Jordan punched in the face.
Kerr is like that little ankle biter dog that runs up to huge dogs and barks. The big dog ( Jordan) says should I just kill it? Probably shouldnt
