I thought his logic was the only thing which could keep the Chiefs from being competitive for championships is if something happened to Mahomes - taking Hooker at the end of the first ensures a 5th year option and provides high quality insurance to the team.

Eh. A year ago people knew they had no QB, but a chance at a good D. That didn't change. The qb situation (fortunately for BH) got so bad they sold the farm to fix it .

A lot of the trades may be getting worked out now based upon what happens tonight . At this late date, may as well be sure of what the board looks like before you pull the trigger.

Why do teams think every new QB deal has to be the highest?? Jalen Hurts was highest paid for like 2 weeks. Now either Burrow or Herbert will trump Lamar.
