3-run homer for OSU to take a 4-2 lead in the 6th. First hit by someone other than the #4 and #5 spots for the Cowgirls.

They have umpires at every base in the Regionals through the College World Series but they still can’t see slappers stepping out of the batters box and pitchers crow hopping.
The second base umpire actually called the slapper out of the batter box tonight. Don’t see it very often though.

Arizona’s lead off and 9 hole were out plenty tonight glad it got called once. Big 12 3 teams selected for Tournament all 3 continue to advance. Very nice!

Is it really obvious they are out?
The one where they called the gal out was very obvious. She had a foot in front of the plate when she made contact. But, because they made the ruling, they showed the replay.

Not exactly sure.
Yes. Left handed batter. Left foot in front of the plate, right foot was in the air moving towards first base When contact was made.
That would be obvious then. I didn’t know until a couple years ago that in SB you only need one foot in the box to be legal. Always went with the baseball rules before.

One foot in the box is only legal provided the other foot is in the air (or, not contacting the ground outside the box).

Is that the college rule? All I know is HS, I looked it up once and found out that for Iowa HS all they need is one in the batters box.

Any part of foot outside of any line of the batter box is illegal.

Used to be when I officiated, and still should be today. A high inside pitch takes care of this.;) It shouldn't be a HBP, as the batter is not making an effort to avoid the pitch.
