Or he's like every one of us who, if we had tens of millions of dollars and had achieved our professional goals, would retire and enjoy life before we get too old to do anything fun.

If I was 60+, had tens of millions in the bank and just went to the pinnacle of my profession (again), I wouldn't even go in to work to pick up my stuff. "You can throw that out, I'll buy new stuff. See ya!".

My father in law kept working into his early 70s because he was making a ton of money and couldn't bring himself to retire. He finally called it quit and went on a big cross-country road trip with his Corvette Club to celebrate. He had a massive stroke on the trip and, while he survived it, his life was never the same and he did not get to enjoy the retirement that he had hoped.

Better to call it quits a little too early than a little too late.
