That will be the new standard in the SEC or Big 10.

It's absolutely insane that in the modern world of college football they're holding NIL fundraisers for players and now that everyone's facilities are top of the line, the only real beneficiaries of these billion dollar TV deals are coaches getting hired and fired.

Shaw leaving Stanford is another surprise.
There was a lot of speculation he would leave. He was 6-21 in Pac12 games over the last 3 full seasons (Stanford was 4-2 in 2020). Glad he was able to do it on his terms.

12 years is a long time to be at one school. He would probably benefit from some time away and then a new challenge.

Things haven't been good at all there for a few years. Not sure what happened--he did just fine for a long while after Harbaugh.
Tough to stay consistently good with very high academic standards. See Northwestern

The transfer portal has only exasperated the delta between the "high academic standards" schools and the rest.

I don't think we ever see Stanford returning to national prominence again.
