MLB: ***2022 MLB SEASON THREAD***

I know the likelihood is about zero, but I'd love to see MLB take the huge step of calling balls and strikes with cameras.
At a minimum, let clubs challenge bad pitching calls at the plate. They already do review calls at every other base.

Channel flipped into Yankee game the other day and they were using it. First I had heard about it. Luis Severino likes to pitch fast anyway but this was really quick. Per announcers Yank catcher Kyle Higashioka was a skeptic. Maybe he needs to rethink that since Sevy only gave up one hit in his four innings.

It feels like it's only a matter of time.

It's difficult to think of many industries that would say no to technology available that can improve:

  • Accuracy
  • Consistency
  • Efficiency
All for non-exorbitant cost.

AL Rookie of the Year race will be crazy between Torkelson (DET), Witt (KC) and Julio Rodriguez (SEA).
Yep, Riley Greene (DET) would have been in it as well if he didn't break his foot a couple days ago.

I am legitimately shocked by this. That line up is essentially just him. They always seem to have pitching but they trade away nearly everyone over time. They seem like they are trying to be the Ray's but aren't nearly as good at it. I think they payroll was like $50 mil or something this year which is insane if you want to actually compete. Why a guy with that level of talent signed that and wants to be hitched to that wagon is kinda weird.

That's a contract that can be traded to a lot of teams though, $25M per year for a top-20 (?) player in the league is manageable for all but a few teams.

And even those teams could manage it but choose not to.
