Also, ISU has played Texas A&M-Corpus Christi twice.

Dec. 22, 1999, W, 86-64
Nov. 12, 2013, W, 80-50

We should probably schedule them again then. First time we went to the elite 8 that season, and second time we very well might've again if Niang hadn't been injured.

I'm flipping back and forth between all 3 games. Corpus Christi in the double bonus with 12 minutes left.

Tix were cheap to the WI game.

I've never been to an NIT game but it sounds kinda anti-climactic.

Good for the players to get some more time together though.

8:30 is too late for a weeknight mid major game for me. Hopefully they win and get to host another game. High school boys have the Kohl Center this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, so hopefully they get a Sunday game.

I think it all depends how the year plays out and what expectations were.

A team with tournament chances ending up in the NIT? Not much fun.

A team that is in a development\rebuilding phase can treat it as a successful milestone and use it as something to build on for next year. If you'd told me at the beginning of either this year or last year we'd make the NIT and go on a run there, that wouldn'tve been a bad result.

Kind of crazy how long its been since we've been in an NIT. Our last was 2004

Power conference teams with equal or longer NIT droughts:

Kansas (1969) (when the NCAA field was 16)
Duke (1981) (when the NCAA field was 32)
UCLA (1986)
Michigan State (1997)
Purdue (2004)

Well this one suddenly got more interesting. I admittedly don't really like the idea of the first four, but it does offer these small schools a chance to have a memory of winning an NCAA game.

Was passing through the DFW area and went to an NIT game at TCU back in 2019. Nice arena, very small. Crowd was unimpressive and not into the game.

My last NIT game before that was back in 2004. We won't talk about that one.

The ones in 2004 were fun. We made the final 4. Unfortunate we basically had to play rutgers at home when we got there though
