NFL: 2020 NFL Off-season Thread

That Hopkins trade is absolutely braindead. Arizona barely spent a dime to pick up one of the best WR in the game.

He wants a new contract, but would you rather pay him top dollar or be stuck with David Johnson's anchor of a contract for the next few years? Easy call for Arizona. They win twice by landing an all pro WR and simultaneously ditching the worst contract on their books.

I feel like they're headed to salary cap hell.

How so? They have one of the healthiest cap sheets in the league. Fairly soon they'll have to shell out for Darius Leonard, Ryan Kelly and Quenton Nelson. Other than those three there isn't a player on the roster coming up on the end of their deal that they should or likely will break the bank for, and they're sitting on a boatload of cap space even with the Buckner contract.

I'm probably wrong. You would know more. But if they grab Phillip Rivers he'll need paid. Buckner is expensive. Castonzo just got paid too. And you have to keep money available for the three you mentioned.

Sure, that's the nature of the cap. You can't keep everyone. Sooner or later every team is headed for salary cap hell unless they're content to not pay their guys and suck every year. But I don't see the bubble bursting for the Colts like it is for the Cowboys any time in the near future.
