Too bad Darius Lee-Campbell isn't even breaking the three deep DB on these lists. A lot of hype when he was recruited as a dual QB and it just didn't pan out out. Does he even play any special teams?
Ben Bruns made an interesting comment on twitter about Jake. He made it sound like Campos was too banged up from all his injuries and thought it was unlikely that Jake would be coming back for another year.
Wonder if we will go back to more of a traditional 4 man front with the guys we have there next year.
The last couple games have shown that if you have a decent running game, and you are patient with it, you can gash our 3-man front. That sprint draw stuff WVU was doing was brilliant. And to an extent we have to be fine with that as opposed to giving up 70yd TD passes.
If we stick with it next year, we'll need to be more exotic with run blitzes, or somehow get bigger/more physical LB's who can consistently beat blockers getting to the 2nd level. I think Bama only gets those players....
Agree. Campbell and Heacock know what's coming now against OSU so it will interesting to see how they mix it up.

Obviously QB will be the biggest question mark going into next season, in fact the season could depend on it since that is by far the most important position.
I've always felt like Zeb is going to be a stud, but we just don't know that yet. If Park is healthy enough to return, will he, and if he does will he be the same QB? I have no confidence whatsoever in anyone after Zeb or Park, so as someone said, we had better be looking at JUCO QBs or transfers. Devon Moore has a LONG ways to go to be a Big 12 QB IMHO.

I know more recent posts suggest the injuries and all, but just for future reference, can't a player have had a RS year used, but a medical redshirt is different and is often granted? How else would Jess Settles have played 8 years???
Our rush defense has not been gashed. We give up 135/yards per game. I don't think a 4 man front will lower our defensive ppg allowed or our total yards allowed. We also only give up 230 ypg passing in a league with 4 of the nations top 5 passing quarterbacks.

I wonder if we see the staff go hard after the 5th years again, particularly on the offensive line and back 7 on defense. I think we could use at least a couple OL and defensive backs.

Peavy is the football version of Perry Ellis.

I don't think so. There was some talk about him at WR last year. He has a decent size body. I suppose we could say he's a firm handshake candidate but there isn't a ton of experienced depth at S next year and we've seen guys come out of nowhere before so maybe something materializes.
Maybe but the odds of transfer OL being large contributors is so small. I mean, Catalina, Dawson and Rodgers aren't really odd scenarios. I think only Rodgers is even contributing. It's just a position where, if you put in 4 years and aren't going to play, there's probably a reason. I know that wasn't the case for Catalina but he wasn't all that great. I think next year there will be enough bodies where any transfer would be counted on for depth, not starters like this year.
QB is interesting if Park is in question. I know of a probable one who may not be starter material but he'd be a grad transfer with 2 years and a solid recruiting profile which includes a Toledo offer.
I have been thinking about this very thing for a while. Glad someone posted this. While I do see us needing to fill some key spots on both sides of the ball and some definite leadership positions, I think that in most of them we have people to step in and take over.
We are losing some key WRs this year but there are several good Jrs and Sos who are doing great or showing promise that I think will step in to those rolls.
I think the QB situation is fluid and we will have to wait and see how that plays out to know what really will happen there.
I think we are losing some key LBs and DBs but it does look like there are some decent guys ready to step up there, and overall I don't see a huge weakness, but we are going to have to fill some spots.
The Juco Punter looks good and I think will step in and fill the spot.
The freshman Kicker is a wild card for me. He looks good but it might be a rough year kicking but he may do great too, his tape looks good, but things are different when you move to college level.
I am concerned still about our OL, it hasn't been great this year, and depending on how things develop we have a ton of young guys. Do we pick up a couple Jucos to step in for a couple years until all those freshmen develop, or do they get to a level of development to compete by next year? That is one of my questions.
Obviously we are great at starting RB but don't know how deep we are there.
Something I have always wondered, and maybe I just notice it more there, but when you watch most, if not all, B1G games they rely heavily on TEs, I would guess TEs get passes thrown to them at least every possession if not more. It is not just at Iowa its all over the B1G. Where I have never seen that much in the Big XII much, we here at ISU and around the conference rarely utilize the TE. Has anyone else noticed this or am I just missing something.
