I won't root for him because I dont like Penn St.

It will be like every other ISU coach though, ill probably be keeping tabs on him every once in awhile or see him on TV sometimes.

Needs to be a don’t care option. Kind of like Hoiberg. Not rooting for or against him, most of the time I kind of forget he’s coaching Nebraska.

I won’t care if Matt has success or fails at PSU. I certainly won’t be watching or caught up in it at all.

Depends on the situation. Against Iowa? Absolutely. Against Ohio State/Michigan in the Big Ten championship? Definitely.

Otherwise indifferent.

I'll be indifferent to them like I was before.

It does piss me off that they completely botched their coaching search and the fans act like they're too good for a coach from lowly Iowa State, and they somehow backed their way into by far the best candidate for that job and the guy they should have targeted from the start. It's infuriating to see incompetence rewarded.

If you’re not rooting against them, you not rooting for them, right? This is more to see how what percentage will actively pull for Campbell going forward. Williams said last night he’d be rooting for him so I’m sure others feel the same way.

Williams has personal relationships with the guys on the staff. I don’t know them at all.

I have several friends that are PSU alums so I'll continue to root for them against OSU, Michigan, and Iowa and most SEC teams. I won't root for them against Minnesota or Illinois. I may tune in a little more because of Campbell but it doesn't really change much.

I don't want him to fail as I think we need more coaches like Campbell in CFB. Just hope coach Rogers can lead ISU to new success so losing Campbell doesn't hurt too much.

I root for coaches that coach for the Iowa State Cyclones- not coaches that leave and go to a despicable university like Pedo State. Sorry Matt- I hope the Cyclones meet up with the Pedo StTe Nitany Lions and Iowa State kicks their a$$.

Im just really indifferent now. Wont root for or against and can still admit hes our GOAT of football coaches and be grateful for him.

If he went NFL to Bengals, Browns, Steelers,I'd root for him.

Only when he is playing EIU, I hope he buries and embarrasses them every time they play. Outside of that one game, I no longer care how he does. I will say if he wins big, national championships, there are going to be a lot of ISU fans wondering falsely that he could have done it here at ISU. After a decade, he was what he was, much like the guy over in IC, a good coach that would lose games that he really should not be losing too. Special teams were up and down, and rarely a strength, and I for one will not miss the defense alignment. It had its place, but that time has passed and we never improved it, but kept doubling down on what ISU invented. Funny how in the OSU game, when we came out in the second half starting blitzing and rushing more than 3 players, we speeded up the QB and the mistakes started to happen.

I'm loyal to Iowa State. I root for the coaches when they are coaching here not when they leave. Why would I root for another team? Just because the coach use to coach here but decided to leave for them instead? I appreciate the teams he had and was the leader of that helped raised the standard here. Thats what a football coach's job is when they come to a program... to make it better. The same thing PSU is expecting. Same thing LSU is expecting. Etc.

I honestly don’t care. I wish the best for Matt. But I love seeing examples of people taking bags of money and failing.
I 100% can’t fault the guy for leaving. It’s a great opportunity and most of us would probably leave our current jobs if they doubled our salary or more and gave us more resources.
He understands if he lays an egg he will be thrown out and curb stomped in 4 years.
But most of the fired coaches are landing on their feet somewhere with huge buy outs

Iowa State needs more examples of people leaving and failing. Not that it actually matters I guess.

I voted indifferent, but my lean is yes. What he did for Iowa State can't be understated. He's the best to ever do it here. He gave us a lot of years, and overall probably a few more than he had to. I'm not sure i can entirely blame him in this scenario. Sounds like if our NIL funding was better or at least the allocation of the existing NIL funding was more favorable for football, he'd still be around. I don't actively root for Penn State, that's just a program too mired and uppity for my liking, but I won't be openly rooting for them to suck and Campbell's demise either. Will cheer for them whenever they play Iowa or Ohio State.
