    Your Biggest "Coincidence"

We were biking down by Captain Roy’s in DSM a few years ago and I missed the turn to go by the river so we stayed on Pennsylvania Avenue and was headed to Mullets. This white Dodge truck pulls up and asked for directions. Here it was my nephew and his wife from Council Bluffs in town for a...

I can't remember a game when I didn't smuggle in shooters, a few cans of beer, jello-shots, flask etc. into a game for like the last 15-20 years. Now with selling beer, they probably will have more people searching you as you go into the game. :rolleyes:Seems like the law of averages for Iowa...

    Twisted Vine Brewery Closing

Heard this morning that Twisted Vine is closing its doors on July 5th. We were just there last Saturday. I remembered they started out of St. Charles, moved to West Des Moines just south of Valley West Mall and to its current location south of Fong’s (the old Peace Tree Brewery.

Kids leaving the nest - how to cope?

We just remodeled our basement. Got a dumpster a few months ago and just started to get rid of stuff. Never batted an eye on some stuff. We literally filled a 20’ roll off with demo stuff and junk from around the house. We are not horders by any stretch of the imagination, but around 30 years of...

Remembering two important World War 2 events

I was so enamored with the Pacific War, especially with the Battle at Midway, that I took a 400 level class my last semester at ISU on the Pacific War as an elective. I got a C+ but then again I took 18 credits that spring so I could graduate.

    Red-hot Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie?

I make a rhubarb strawberry chiffon pie. I just buy the graham cracker pie shells. Cool whip, cook rhubarb, strawberries, and sugar add jelatin and put in fridge for a couple hours. Fold the mixture into the cool whip and put in pie shells. You can freeze or put in fridge.
