Musicians who lack talent

I'm just interested to see who everyone here would consider to be a big name musician that has little to no musical talent.

For me, former Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious would be at the top of the list. Zero talent, could not play bass at all.

Nikki Six is another one. Good songwriter and had the personality to become famous, but not a very good bass player.

Throw Lars Ulrich on the list as well. He just flat out sucks as a drummer and seems like a total d-bag. Metallica became one of the top metal/rock bands of all time. Imagine if they had a good drummer.

I would even say that Kurt Cobain lacked talent. He was a below average guitarist and singer, but wrote songs that are really catchy and his timing was perfect. People were getting sick of hair metal and wanted something new, especially the younger generation. Nirvana's songs had attitude and kids loved that.

Blake Shelton has absolutely no talent whatsoever. Can barely play a guitar at all, just watch him. Worst lyrics I’ve ever heard, no idea if he writes those himself or not? And absolutely zero stage presence either. I don’t know how much someone would have to pay me to sit through one of his concerts? Maybe $500?

I just listened to a couple of his songs and agree, not very good. Had to shut the 2nd song off halfway through.

A lot more pop stars fall into this than most want to believe. Songs are prewritten for them, auto tuned vocals on albums, backing tracks live, surround themselves with really good musicians but take the lions share of notoriety and money.

This! It was even worse in the 80s and 90s when record labels and people in the business would basically tell pop artists that they will make them rich if they do certain things. The controlled how they look and how they sound and even how they act a lot of times. This is why I have respect for some pop musicians who mostly do things their own way and write a good amount of their own music. Lady Gaga is a good example. I'm not really into her music but I respect what she does.

When he first started he was good, but then he went full redneck and is just awful. Most newer "country" artists aren't very good. That Megan Marooney is so monotone I don't know why she's even popular, and she releases a new song every week. Ella Langley and Lainey Wilson are the only newer females that are actually good. Can't think of any male artist that's debuted in the last 5 years that I like, Riley Green has a few good ones though.

I think you could put Dirks Bentley and Luke Bryan in this category as well. 'Douche Country' is full of them.

And somebody please tell me what Pitbull does that makes him special. I don't get it at all.

If a song has a dozen writing credits to it (not uncommon these days for pop songs), then there isn't much talent in the room and what ever computer program being used is doing the heavy lifting. It also means that singer is just a performer.
