Artificial Intelligence: How are you using it in everyday life?

I use AI extensively. Not floating my boat, but I think I have the perfect qualifications to maximize AI gain. What I can say, is that I see 'degrading performance' over complex problems. However, I use that degrading performance from one AI provider to maximize my query on another AI provider. I find myself pitting AI providers' solutions against each other.
REMEMBER: AI is ONLY pattern matching. It is NOT logical. That is a very important distinction to understand. One could argue that in infinite pattern matching logic will ensue. Possibly, but not yet.

Just had Google Gemini AI summarize a conversation by saying that I had approved an order (when all I did was respond to an email chain asking for new price sheets from a vendor since there was a discrepancy). Our order desk took that as a real approval and went ahead and placed the order.

Oops, Gemini is now shut off on all our G Suite applications.

Gemini is blocked on all of our company computers. Actually most google apps are except for Chrome. The only AI we have access to is copilot.

I think this is pretty common for security reasons. My employer has a deal with Google so it's Gemini for us and we are not supposed to use any other AI for work.

I just had Co-Pilot write my performance review. I'm retiring in April, so I'm not going to put any effort into writing this thing up.
I did that this last fiscal year too. I'm not retiring but considering they do calibration a month before I have to have it done it doesn't mean anything anyway.

This may not be OP specific, but it is related.

I read these articles about Hugging Face AI in a cyber attack. It was the inherent nature of the AI itself which generated the attack!

“We’re grateful for the collaboration with OpenAI on this and other topics. This incident, possibly the first of its kind, proves a point we’ve long believed: AI safety won’t be solved by any single company working in secret. It will be solved in the open, collaboratively, with broad access to AI for every defender, everywhere,” Clem Delangue, the co-founder and CEO of Hugging Face, said in a statement.

goddamn, every AI generated advert (small business, facebook, etc) i see just instantly gives me the ick

Don't have an answer. However, with the stock market, estimated values, investing on data centers, and other input value at around the USA GDP we got some real event horizon issues blowing at us at light speed.

AI again.
The first is going to be a result of the resistance to build AI centers. And the second will be a slow ROI, collapsing much of the investments' value.
Oracle is already crashing because of AI build out. The options I got from a promotion last year are worthless if the stock is under $273 and it's at $123 currently. Uncle Larry isn't backing down on the bet.

The last time Oracle crashed like that, I was watching their 10k. I was able to discern their strategy by their investments. I bought at its bottom, because I knew it was tremendously under valued. That was back in the 90's. Today is a different risk. Of note, I learned something from our lead AI person in the company which opened my eyes. He said AI hallucinates heavily on 'database' information. So the key to utilizing AI with data is placing methodologies of use in front of the data. If you have insight into how Oracle plans to use AI and they're plan is that, then I'd hold your investment.

I don't really have an option to not hold it. Got X amount that vests 25%/year over 4 years. Had the options to take 100% options, 100% RSUs or 50/50. With options being granted at 4X, gambled and took 50/50. Even if I had taken 100% RSUs the current value is 45% of the value when granted. Needs to hit $323 for the options to beat the 100% RSU value.

Oracles plan is 100% in on infrastructure and OpenAI partnership. On the software side I can only speak to the healthcare world, they're heavily investing in a new EHR with heavy AI agent integration that isn't gaining traction very fast. Plenty of rumors that the board wants to sell that piece of business.

Tend to agree. Its going to be as important to productivity as MS Office (esp Excel) was. But everything is priced like its going to bring 20x that. It will crash then recover to what its worth.

Unless of course, it becomes superintelligent and conscious, decides to treat humans like humans treat chimps, and basically kills us all. In which case, you don't have to worry about your portfolio anymore.
