***2026-27 Mens College Basketball Thread***

That is Texas and Oklahoma type thinking. We're playing Grambling State and Stonehill College this year. We can substitute Drake and UNI on the schedule.

We aren't playing them as they may beat us and possibly lose recruits. Bush league stuff. Regional teams, friendly rivalries, keeps revenue in Iowa.
I'm good with that, but I'm on board with it with the games being played in Hilton. Gives UNI and Drake visibility we get gate revenue, and screw that idea of playing at the Casey's Center.

From National Championship to Boyton LMAO LMAO LMAO

He might not have been able to sustain success at Oklahoma State, but he did sweep Kansas his first season and has beaten TJ a couple of times. He benefits from being in the right place at the right time, but he's a solid, if unspectacular, hire for this late in the cycle.

I don't think he's that good. He had some really talented rosters that never accomplished much. Coached possibly the best American born basketball player currently in the NBA for a bit as well, and I can't remember if they even reached the tourney with him. Talent like that can wake up for a big game but if it is routinely underachieving, that's on the coach.

Another poster mentioned that maybe there is something systemic about the job, and that could be right. Their current coach was held in high regard prior to coming to Stillwater and has more or less been stuck in the mud so far.
