That's a nice beaver you got. Official Buc-ee's love thread

Since I have been to one in Kentucky, just for the novelty of it. Overwhelming at first, my vote is no biggee.

Economic question - will Buc-ee's be like a Wal-mart to local competition?
(I frickin’ hate wal-mart … pay scale, treatment of employees, condition of stores > all-for-one, -one-for-me)

I like WaWa. Just because it's not Mega.

I tend to like easier in/out (and that includes travel stops.)
We tried WaWa this spring for the first time. I wasn’t impressed. Maybe I need to try it again. There is a new one that recently opened near me. It seemed WaWa was similar to Sheetz, but neither impressed me. I like Buc-ee’s, Kwik Star and Casy’s better based on my limited trips.

It's kind of confusing the first time. Using the touch screen to order, then paying, then picking up the item. But the food is always very fresh and good.

They do have ready-made breakfast sandwiches for grab and go. The double bacon croissant is a favorite. The hash browns can be soft and gooey and stick to the paper, or nice and crispy - it's a crap shoot.

They also have a no-fee ATM which we use a lot during the 6 months in Florida since our local Credit Union has no branches within 1200 miles.

We've noticed the "city" Caseys are often poorly run. Stopped at one in CR this morning and no cream for the coffee. The staff were congregated in the back chatting like no one gave a ****. The small town ones seem to do a better job all around. Also like Kwik Star.

I will try WaWa again sometime. It may have just been a bad location.

I didn't realize people thought or cared this much about gas stations. I can't wait until I get an electric vehicle and pretty much cut them out of my life.

My wife is an unofficial “Buc-ees Babe” so it’s her world and I’m just getting out of the way. I remember when the big Minnesota Mall of America was the hot deal and that aura doesn’t exist anymore but the business plan here is pretty good. Location on busy interstates, guaranteed clean restrooms, quick gas access, decent food and NO SEMI Trucks. I notice that people are buzzing around in an apparent gleeful state of mind.

I don’t get the hype. I’ve been to the one in northern Colorado three times. The food is good, but not any better than you could get at Maverik or Quik Trip. Their drink selection sucks, half the damn place is a hobby lobby, and the people who seem to Stan the place tend to be slow AF and always in the way.

The bathrooms do live up to the hype though.

Not sure why anyone would not like a Buc-ee's, the clean bathrooms where you do not have to wait is worth it compared to many stores. Comparing the chain to Walmart is incorrect, it's much closer to a Costco in cleanliness and their workforce. Walmarts tend to be dirty and not much help to be found, while neither is the case at Buc-ee's. Their fresh smoked brisket is excellent, their prices are in line with other stores, in the area. While most are packed with people, they do an excellent job of getting your through the lines.

Just like every chain, it varies by location. I've been in the occasional Wal-Mart where the store is clean and just as many helpful smiles in every aisle that Hy-Vee claims, and I've been in some that made me wish
I was armed.

We have been to 9 to 10 different Buc-ee's and never thought they were even close to a Walmart in terms of being clean and the amount of dirtballs in the place. Some of the Walmarts are a little shaky at best. The better ones tend to those in the midsized towns where they are the only game in town.
