The only thing I don't love is the no Olympic redshirt, just cause it is a big switch from Folk to Free and concentrating on Free and wrestling international is a big thing during a cycle.
The problem with the Olympic redshirt was to many wrestlers were eligible for one. I think a cadet world medalist could get one. Many athletes took a Olympic redshirt with no intent of trying for the Olympics. PSU was known for doing this. I am okay with eliminating it or at least really tightening the rules.

Alot of athletes took Olympic redshirts and never even wrestled in a qualifying event to make the team that year

what PSU guys are you referring to?

I think it’s going to create a lot more movement with backups that know they don’t have a realistic shot at starting. Kids already don’t want to wait in line, but when they’re burning eligibility clocks as soon as they get to campus, they might be even more reticent to do so. Overall, net positive change for the sport, though.

This email came (I assume) to all season ticket holders yesterday. Looks like students are getting moved right to matside, visitors corner moved, etc. Cool moves!
Cyclone Wrestling Fans,
As summer moves along and wrestling season approaches, I wanted to take this opportunity to reach out and provide an update on the program and share some changes coming to Hilton Coliseum this winter.
First and foremost, I want to thank you for the outpouring of support since my hiring as head coach in April.
Shortly after I was hired, it was my mission to build a coaching staff that could recruit and develop high-character individuals who strive to be NCAA, World and Olympic champions. Derek St. John was promoted to Associate Head Coach. His leadership and mentorship within this program have been instrumental over the last nine seasons and I am excited to continue building this program with him by my side.
Next, we hired Javier Maldonado, formerly associate head coach at Little Rock, as an assistant coach. Javier comes to us with a wealth of knowledge and experience at various levels of college coaching. Finally, we added Drake Ayala to the coaching staff. He recently concluded an outstanding collegiate career, and we can already feel the impact of his hands-on wrestling and mentorship with our student-athletes.
I am most excited to share with you our vision for the Iowa State wrestling fan experience inside Hilton Coliseum.
When my predecessor, Kevin Dresser, was hired in 2017, it was his goal to remove the old black curtain that sectioned off the arena for wrestling duals and open Hilton Coliseum to all of Cyclone Nation. Working with our administration, it is our goal to build upon that vision and create one of the nation’s most exciting environments in college wrestling.
We have several changes coming for home wrestling duals, including a reimagined floor layout to move more fans, students and energy closer to the action. We want our opponents to feel the full weight of Cyclone Nation right on top of them.
As part of our continued efforts to enhance the Iowa State Wrestling experience, you'll see the new Hilton Coliseum seating layout below. Changes for the upcoming season include a redesigned floor configuration, expanded mat-side seating options, updated student sections, and additional premium seating opportunities designed to bring fans closer to the action.

It is our goal to increase the number of season ticket holders and provide more ticket options to our loyal fans. This will also create easier access for those who want to become first-time season ticket holders.
With season ticket renewals and new season ticket sales beginning July 1, there will be more ways than ever to experience Iowa State Wrestling. I want to personally invite you to be a part of this new era in Cyclone wrestling and help us build a program that is consistently competing for Big 12 and NCAA titles.
I am excited to see many familiar faces and hope to see many new ones in Hilton Coliseum soon.
Go Cyclones!

Man if we could pack the student section being right there next to the opposing team that would be awesome.

Not sure I love the head table being right in front of season ticket holders, but will need to wait to see how that works
