The only thing I don't love is the no Olympic redshirt, just cause it is a big switch from Folk to Free and concentrating on Free and wrestling international is a big thing during a cycle.

The problem with the Olympic redshirt was to many wrestlers were eligible for one. I think a cadet world medalist could get one. Many athletes took a Olympic redshirt with no intent of trying for the Olympics. PSU was known for doing this. I am okay with eliminating it or at least really tightening the rules.

Alot of athletes took Olympic redshirts and never even wrestled in a qualifying event to make the team that year

Unless a serious injury happens with one of their guys between 149-165. 0 chance he’s the starter in March next year

I think it’s going to create a lot more movement with backups that know they don’t have a realistic shot at starting. Kids already don’t want to wait in line, but when they’re burning eligibility clocks as soon as they get to campus, they might be even more reticent to do so. Overall, net positive change for the sport, though.
