*** 2026 US Open Shinnecock Hills GC Thread***

The USGA needs to do some soul searching. If you're going to neuter the course for the first two days, you're not going to have anything compelling for the weekend.

Put a plan together and don't get spooked by the weather forecast. Quit letting player whining change your thinking. They tear courses apart for 40 other weekends a year. You're going to lose that makes this special if it's just another tournament.
There are 5 guys under par right now. There were exactly TWO guys that shot under par on their round yesterday. What exactly do you want?

I know you’re not supposed to talk about “great” courses this way but the greens are borderline stupid.

A lot of the old courses are like that. They were designed when green speeds were much slower.

How is it possible to get that much backspin from a 60 yard wedge shot that much uphill. Insane stuff from Wyndham there.

Yes, Wyndham Clark has paid for the damages to the lockers he smashed at Oakmont Country Club following a missed cut at the 2025 U.S. Open. [1, 2, 3]
In addition to fully paying for the repairs, Clark's path to reinstatement included completing several conditions required by the historic club: [1, 2]
  • Financial Repayment: He paid the full cost to fix the damaged lockers.
  • Charity: He made a meaningful contribution to a charity selected by the Oakmont Country Club board.
  • Counseling: He successfully completed anger management therapy and counseling sessions. [1, 2, 3]
