Nope. Plenty of DSM places had it back when. Not sure any more.I've never heard of it. Is it a western Iowa thing?
Supposedly first created in Des Moines. I've seen it on the menu at a few restaurants.Nope. Plenty of DSM places had it back when. Not sure any more.
More of a Des Moines thing.I've never heard of it. Is it a western Iowa thing?
It's not a good steak if you have to sauce it up for flavor. It's a Des Moines thing. It's very good, even though I'm a "no steak sauce on steak" kinda guy.
It's always fun being out to eat with my parents and watching my dad order a steak. Whenever the server asks him if he wants any steak sauce with it when they bring the food his go-to reply is... "And ruin a good steak?"WTF is steak Burgo. Why ruin a steak with sauce, might as well put catsup on it.
I think it's one of those dishes that was new and innovative and created quite the buzz back in its day. Similar to fondue and the single dumbest trend to ever catch on in American cuisine, the shish kebab.I cooked in a independent living/retirement style community in college and Steak de Burgo night was a BIG night when it came around.
