Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby receives an injunction from the district court in Lubbock to allow him to play in 2026 despite his sports gambling violations. Who gets the blame for how the situation has played out? Jake Brend shares his opinion. Presented by Fareway Meat & Grocery in the Northwest Bank Studios.

I wish the NCAA would just go full nuclear. Come out and say that as the courts will not allow us to enforce rules, there are no longer any rules. No maximum roster size. No limit for how much a school can pay players. No limits on eligibility. Just do whatever you want. Maybe then the legislature would take this up in a meaningful way.

LOL, there are no rules I'll stay a Cyclone fan till it imploded, but the rest of college sports are a nothing burger to me. B12 will be the only nonISU games I'll watch usually.
I’d add TTU to the list of programs, along with the $EC and B1G. Yeah, they’re in the conference, but they’re part of the problem with college sports- and no, Cody Campbell isn’t the answer. He wouldn’t care about anyone else if TTU was in the $EC or B1G

I blame the judge. If I'm the NCAA, I'd appeal to higher court. I think they have to or they should just disband. I don' think this is over and I have doubts Sorsby will be eligible once another court reviews.

Would be curious if the Big 12 has any power in this situation. Could they step in and suspend Sorsby for 5 Big 12 games?

The other entity that could hopefully impact Tech is the CFP Committee. It isn't under the NCAA's jurisdiction, it's owned by the Conferences & Notre Dame. Could the CFP step in and say Sorsby violated rules conferences adhere to. And if Texas Tech plays Sorsby one game, they forfeit their ability to play in the CFP and teams that lose to Tech have that loss omitted from their record when considered for the CFP (whether Sorsby plays or not in that game).

If he plays a snap it is the Big XII conference fault. Is there a better example of why a conference exists? He broke the rules for one team in the conference and another team in the conference is willing to take him despite that.

Correction: He broke the rules while in the b1g. Point still stands.

If he were sending money to friends and family to place bets in other states, does that not break any state law? Did he share his login with those people or were they placing bets on their account on his behalf? Just wondering if any state could file charges and arrest him on gameday just to make a mockery of this whole thing.

Standing Ovation for @JakeBrend.

We need more media pressure on the illegal activity of DCI. The agent who drove this investigation needs his day in court. And even for those athletes for whom the charges were dropped, he caused huge damage. Many of the players weren't innocent, but so far, DCI doesn't seem to have be held responsible for their illegal and unethical endeavor.
