Without JJ and Tamin will milan be as productive at KY

I love MIlan and wish he was back, but JJ and Tamin set him up quite often as other teams had to respect those two. Plus they had played with Milan for 2 years so they knew where he would be on the floor. Will he mesh with the new team.

I hope he does well except if we have to play them. But i think his numbers will be down

Some will say he'll be up a creek without them, others will say he'll be even better with the athleticism he'll have around him and an offensive-minded coach. I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. Pope will get him plenty of good looks and he'll make a lot of them. How Momcilovic will improve his draft stock I have no idea. I see him playing a fifth year wherever will pay him the most, and maybe going overseas after. The only way he gets the guarantees he wanted this year from NBA teams is if someone's roster plans fall through unexpectedly, giving him more leverage. Or I guess he can grind in the G League, but he could've chosen that path this year

It's not like MM was just standing in the corner. A ton of our offensive motion was focused on getting him open looks. He got a lot of shots off pin downs and dribble handoffs. He also hit a lot of shots off pump fakes and side steps. I think a lot of fans are underestimating his contribution to the offense and overall skill level. I don't think he will shoot 48% from 3. It's just a really hard number to recreate. But he will once again be one of the best shooters in the country and have a lot of games where he takes over.

Talent is solid, but nothing special. 2 lead guards are both guys who are extremely ball dominant and who can't really shoot it at this point, so Milan will be basically the only spacing on the team. Their athleticism will be good around him, but their defensive scheme will be much worse (basically everyone's is worse than us). He'll be good because he's a stud, but its hard to imagine his situation on KY being any better than it would have here tbh.

He was the most efficient scorer in all of MBB. I am sure Kentucky will try and use that efficiency as much as possible, just like TJ did.

I think the biggest adjustment for him will be playing on a team with a completely different mentality and intensity. It may be a difficult adjustment for him and could affect his timing and make %. I dont know what is considered a bust for him but if he shoots in the low 40s it will feel like a bad investment on Kentuckys end. Hes not a good enough defender/rebounder to only be a plus shooter. He needs to be elite.

Kentucky's offense is different than Iowa State's in the sense that they'll have 5 offensive guys outside of the paint much of the time (similar to BYU under Pope). Athletic guards that can dribble drive and get to the hoop opens up help side as defenders begin to sag, I think that's where Milan lives at Kentucky.

Hard to replicate the season he just had in terms of efficiency, but I would imagine Milan will continue to be one of the best shooters in college basketball.

Not to mention that he got a lot of looks in transition and presumably that will continue. I agree he's extremely unlikely to match the percentage, but he'll score for sure, especially if he continues to expand his game.

The most underrated aspect of MM's success was how his teammates facilitated said success. We had guards who were excellent assist guys. We also had one of the best passing big men in college hoops with JJeff. Buchanan was also a good passing big man. So Milan time after time got the ball in his "perfect spots" for draining 3's. His teammates were also always looking to find him.

At UK, you have a bunch of 5 stars with huge egos making millions who want to show out for all the scouts in the stands every game. Those guys' primary focus won't be on finding Milan in one of his perfect shooting spots.

Couple that with MM's reluctance to shoot much of time and his struggle to create his own shot and you have at the very least fewer looks and shot attempts for him. That certainly doesn't translate to the kind of shooting year he had last season by any stretch. And throw in the SEC also being a league where you have most teams stacked with athletic, lengthy dudes and you have another obstacle there for Milan in who'll be defending him.

I'm sure he'll do fine. Really doubt he matches a historic season shooting-wise, but he'll still shoot over 40%. I guess I don't blame him at all. He really wanted the NBA and when that wasn't there, he took the bag. And it's a hell of a bag. He's not going to improve his NBA stock at all, but he's getting a huge paycheck. At this point, I assume he'll play for UK for 2 years and then head to Europe. Not a bad life.

As much as I loved watching Milan with the Cyclones, he’s a role player. He’s an elite shooter, one of the best of all time in college. But he’s not a great rebounder, ball handler, or defender. Because of his elite shooting, I think he’ll have a good career in the NBA, maybe similar to Kyle Korver. But he’s not worth 6 million in college. He seems like a classy guy, and I hope he does well. I don’t have any hard feelings.
