Milan Momcilovic withdraws from the 2026 NBA Draft

If she leaves you for money, it was never romantic. Just like this. It was purely business the whole time. Which is why college sports isn't the same now.
This completely ignores nuance. You don't commit to a place out of high school and play 3 years there without a "romantic" connection. He could've had more money after last season. It wasn't business the "whole time". It was unfortunate timing and scenario with him genuinely exploring the NBA Draft and our need to maximize our dollars in a short time frame.

This was a business decision in the end. But it doesn't erase the "romance" that we had the last 3 years.

I certainly don’t want MM to fail he’s a great kid and represented Iowa state well but I also don’t think he will fit in as well at Kentucky as he did here, Kentucky is loaded with 5 star talent that are there to be NBA ready. He would have been the guy here, he will not be the best player at Kentucky next year. With that said, gonna make $5+ million as long as he invests somewhat well he’s set for life at 22
I think that was the point, though. He’s not a player that is supposed to initiate the offense and be your number one scorer; he’s Kyle Korver, not SGA. At Kentucky (or wherever), he’ll be probably the third option, and his job will be to stand in the corner, space the floor, and hit open threes. Exactly what he’ll be doing in the NBA.

And a business decision on the part of both the player and the coach.

Ok everybody, at no point was there ever a romantic relationship between Milan, the school, or the fans. This thread is really getting weird.

He’s going to do great at UK

Assuming the 5th year eligibility passes soon, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s got two more years in college

A break-up is a break-up. When it happens because she’s flirting with someone else, it feels awful. When that fails and she needs $5 million to come back to you, even worse.

The above shows why the girlfriend analogy everyone is using here is genuinely dumb- reality has more nuance and different considerations.

Easiest way for me to view this:
ISU successfully recruited Milan as a priority recruit.
Milan gave his all as a Cyclone for three years before chasing his dream of playing in the league.
Milan set NCAA records as a Cyclone and that entry will not change regardless of where he ends up
We did not pursue him in the portal because our needs were filled when he became available and his price point was above our needs
Highly likely that the records he set at ISU will remain intact during his collegiate career or at least not be broken by him
He will always be viewed as a Cyclone to me
Best to you Milan

The number of thin skinned Iowa State fans that refuse to adapt to the new landscape of college athletics is hilarious. Nobody is saying you have to love it but please stop **** ting on players like Milan and Audi for taking advantage of a huge opportunity. This is literally happening EVERYWHERE.

The only way to view this is simple: you are looking at an unrestricted, untimed free agency. It will remain that way until a massive legal change occurs that is unlikely to happen any time soon.

That's it. If someone can't enjoy the sports as they are right now, then I've got bad news for them. It's not going back.

I'm thin skinned because I don't appreciate athletes that chase money? If that is the case then I am proud to be thin skinned.

And they aren't "our" players if they aren't playing for ISU
Yes. Different era my man. I get it, you played at Iowa State for a bolgna sandwich but times have changed.

Many of our favorite Cyclones of all time would have chased money. Even the most seemingly loyal ones. It is just a different time now, and that matters. It should matter.

LOL I rest my case your honor.
I mean he is right in that aspect though.

I find it perfectly understandable that Milan left, but I'm also not going to cheer for him anywhere else. I cheer for Iowa State. If a player transfers, for whatever reason, most fans are not going to continue being a fan of them, and it's honestly weird that some people seem to think that should change because they are now getting paid to transfer
