K-State Podcaster Says Ames is Worst Road trip in Big 12!

Its Ames, iowa dude. Unless you have some attachment to the town or ISU what would anyone enjoy about it honestly? The best thing ISU has going for it is that Manhattan,KS and Lubbock,TX are in the Big 12
You never miss a chance to **** on anything ISU. If you had just taken the time to read through the thread no one is complaining about his take really other than giving him crap about snowmageddon.

Tim Fitzgerald says Ames is the worst road trip in the Big XII.

I normally dislike all things K-State, but I thought this was funny. I loved Iowa State being part of Canada just south of the Yukon. That was funny.

Big XII Road Travel is one of my weaker CFB areas, but I have seen 4/16 of the current Big XII programs play a home game:

@ Iowa State many times (1989-2025). My happy place!
@ Cincinnati many times (2002-2018). Home away from home.
@ UCF (Citrus Bowl) (1996) in their first game as an FBS team.
@ Kansas (2020) during the Covid year. Loved that old stadium!

So, I have only been to football games @ Iowa State and @ Kansas while they were Big XII teams, as @ UCF and @ Cincinnati were pre-Big XII.

Bonus points (sort of):

@ Sun Devil Stadium (1999) for the Fiesta Bowl (Tennessee beat Florida State)

@ Arizona Stadium (1986) for a walk through during a Tucson drive through.

@ Oklahoma State (1994) Visited the Campus and saw the stadium (outside).
@ TCU (1999) Visited the Campus and saw the stadium (outside).

I have some work to do!

Never understood this type of thinking, Ames is a college town, much like Stillwater, Lubbock, Manhattan, Lawrence, and Waco, further north so it colder. If you want outside beauty none are going to compare to Colorado, Utah or Arizona, but neither is Iowa City, Bloomington, and many cities in the Big 10.
Unless you have natural scenery to look at or are close to a large cities, most college towns are what they are, not much better or worse than any other.

Ames is a great time for a football weekend. Tons of road fans speak really highly about the town, environment, and experience.

Self loathing Iowa Staters are the worst.

I’ve been to most big 12 towns. Lubbock is the worst.
The town itself is okay, I guess. Eerily flat, though. The worst part of Lubbock is getting there! You have to go to the middle of nowhere; then you are only half-way to Lubbock. Terrible drive.

I guess it depends on your priority for the trip. If the top priority is to see a top notch game day environment, then Ames is a great place to see a game and tailgate. And yeah weather-wise, Arizona fans shouldn't come to a game in November, duh. The old Pac teams aren't exactly known for their traveling fan bases anyways.

If your priority is to see a great place and then have a game on the side, then Ames probably isn't for you. But then again, it seemed to be the mindset of the Pac-12 that football wasn't a top priority, they preferred beaches and mountains. I don't blame them, but there's a reason they needed a lifeboat.

When I think of K State and Manhattan, I think of Jerome Tang and Cotton-eye Joe. Enough said! That makes Trump’s YMCA almost watchable!

Not a tree or blade of grass in sight. Everything is just flat and brown.

Our daughter ran cross country for ISU and we drove to places like Waco and Lubbock to watch her run. That's driving 30 hours to watch your daughter run for 20 minutes....something only a parent would do.
