Not sure how many listened to Murph and Andy, but they were recapping Coaches vs Cancer event and Andy spilled all the beans about Mad Fran and his wife being exactly what we thought they were. Definitely worth a listen.
Seeing some media come out and affirm he was a pain. Murphy of course was all class.


It got me thinking....is the old "can't be critical of will lose access" really true? Meaning, why didn't the media share this stuff as it happened. And if Fran/Iowa pull credentials, report on that and that becomes the story. And then I went down a further thought process of.....as public institutions shouldn't media access be open vs restricted? I get may not get exclusive 1:1 interviews, but you'd think press conferences or other media access.

I haven't listened to anything but I take Frans side. Being in Iowa City that long eats at your soul. Fran was a nice, compassionate, patient man before he arrived in Iowa City.

I really recommend listening to the lastest Murphy & Andy podcast for full context, but the gist of it is that Keith was a bit critical of Iowa for hiding one of Fran’s contract extension that only became public due to a FOIA request. The McCaffreys took that as Keith wanting Fran fired. Margaret proceeded to hackle Keith during a coaches versus cancer event. They mandate that Keith be removed from futures events otherwise Fran wouldn’t attend them. Fran refused to interact with Keith at all as Keith tried to “make amends”

And it all started because Murphy did a thing on Soundoff when Fran got the extension and it wasn't reported by Iowa...so the story wasn't about the contract shouldn't have happened, just that it was done in the dark of night.

There's very little upside for them by doing that, and a lot of downside in the form of denied access and fans being irritated at them
