WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

IMO if you allow a coach leaving to be a reason to transfer and limit transfers to 1 year, you open the door for teams to not be able to find enough players to backfill. Like the number of transfers to pick from would go way down, but a team like ISU would still lose its entire team.
I don't think the coach leaving exemption should exist. I get the whole "yeah but they're really committing to a coach not a school" thing and it's probably mostly true, but you are, in fact, committing to a university. The HC isn't paying for your education in the form of a scholarship, the school is. If the HC leaves, consider it a life lesson. Sometimes you gotta deal with crappy and seemingly unfair situations. It's part of growing up.

I agree with Ms. Goodman's take on this.

My pet idea was that you rank the top 12 conferences using the NET and give them an extra auto bid. Sure, the power conferences would get an autobid that would be meaningless to them, but 7 more mid majors would get a second team in.

The issue is reality. There is a 100% chance this is being done to get more 18-15 Power 4 teams in the field.

Another “post portal” top 25. Big Ten absolutely dominates. Big 12 is represented well.

I won't consider one team in the Top 20 and another three hanging around at the bottom of the poll to be represented well. Still, the dust has mostly settled on any big impact players signing so it's getting closer to a real pre-season type poll guess. Not much to do now till fall when we can see how the Big 12 coaches predict the league. We won't have to worry about pre-season awards or anything but I will be quite curious to see where we are picked to finish. We aren't likely to be very good but neither is the league.

Big Ten is dominating for so, on paper. My local gals held serve and are #19 but have a gauntlet of a conference schedule to look forward to. Nice to have the program looking decent after years of wandering in the wilderness of irrelevance. With Bridget gone from the Lynx I'll probably be paying more attention locally to the Gophers. And a bit of pressure/expectation for rival Iowa at #6. Seems a bit high but with everything so scrambled by the portal who knows.

In the same vein of "too early" here's a linky to Cremsters 2027 bracketology. Was updated over the weekend.

Big 12
#4 TCU
#6 ASU
#6 OSU
#7 WVU
#8 Baylor
#8 Colorado
#10 Kansas
#12 BYU (play-in game)

Bored, obviously, and waiting for the temps outside to warm up some!

I figured as little respect as the Big 12 gets…four teams was pretty good! Of course this is all based off players and not team.

With the talent OSU has purchased, they are getting a poor ROI with a six seed! I think they’ll do better than that - they’ll beat TCU for the conference and snag a two seed.

Iowa State would have been in that mix, so much for chickens, counting, hatching.

We'll see. TCU's coach has proven he can assemble AND coach one year teams to Elite Eights and conference titles. OSU has the potential to be good but a lot of wild cards about team cohesion and chemistry need to be successfully addressed.

Their goals will certainly be winning the conference and getting at least #4 so they can host in March. Like us last season but we fell flat and came nowhere close. Barring injuries and/or a meltdown mutiny the Cowgirls should do better than that.

I doubt it.
Agree 100% - Jacie Hoyt has never had to coach with the expectations she is going to have to coach with in 26-27. She will schedule her usual non-conference cupcake schedule to run up wins; however, come conference time when the target is on her team's back every night will be a different story. She has a lot of big egos on that team to manage, and the question remains can she keep them all happy.

yep...weaving together the disparate personalities into a functional and dominate team will be tough. Her teams always seem to underachieve. The team was loaded this past year and they struggled...kind of like the locals here. Is it possible? Absolutely. Lots of questions to be answered and owlman or CyLyte could be right.

Yep will she Win abd Win Big or no reach expectations kinda like that KSU team a few seasons ago who brought in the All Star team of portal transfers and underachieved.

They were picked for 4th and finished in a tie for 4th. They were on the court what they were on paper, neither under or overachieved. She's had one losing Big 12 record, otherwise she's been in the top tier three years. Hasn't had a March run but otherwise she has had success in the Big 12. Compared to Jim Littells last six seasons at OSU before her, she's clearly done much better.

Interesting that Emely Rodriguez has yet to find a school. Made the All-Big 12 Freshman Team in 2024-2025 for UCF. Did something bad enough to get herself suspended at Iowa and is currently without a school. Iowa didn't throw her under the bus by leaking the cause but it must be known to other coaches.

They were def tight lipped. Other than saying she wasn’t welcome back and that her suspension was a “violation of team rules” little is known.
