What's everyone reading?

I’m finally diving into The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo after hearing people rave about it for forever. It’s definitely living up to the hype so far and is such a fast read.

Based on an earlier recommendation in this thread I'm burning through the Infinite Timeline by Jeremy Robinson. Just started the 7th. So far I've enjoyed them all. Really interested to see how they all come together.

Nice! I just started the first Dungeon Crawler Carl book. I'm laughing my ass off.

I'm a big horror/thriller reader. This has been on 'must reads' all winter and spring and finally came out this week. Many reviewers have said they had to read and sleep with the lights on. I'll see about that.

I just finished The Expanse series and started Last Branch Standing - a book about the Supreme Court.

A couple others I've read recently:
The Gargoyle:
Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow:
Hard to describe either of them. Both are fairly melancholy but hopeful.
I started Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow, but then had a couple holds become available on Libby and haven’t gone back yet. May make that a summer read.

Finished the 7th Dungeon Crawler Carl book earlier this week, and now we wait for the next to come out mid-May.

Needed something to fill the gap, and had seen a few times that the Jurassic Park book was very good and much darker than the movie. Started that a few days ago, and have been mildly surprised at how good it’s been. Might have to do Jurassic World after this, since Kindle seems to think they’re a 2-book series.

Only problem I have so far with DCC is they're really short. I chew threw them in a couple of days. That can get expensive fast. I think Sanderson has completely ruined my concept of how long a book should be.

Finally finished Red Scare by Clay Risen. Non-fiction about McCarthyism. I got about halfway through and lost interest. I picked it back up earlier this week and finished it. The last few chapters went fast.

I have two more history books coming. One on Medieval England and one on the Spanish civil war.

FWIW, it sounds like the next book is supposed to be slightly shorter than the 7th, which was 800+ pages.

I'm glad he didn't just move on from the death of a character that was in the previous 17 books. As a fan, I was grieving too!
So I just got to the death you referenced here. First time through the series. Could have done without that but also guessed exactly who it was when you said this. Still have to finish this one up but I have been stewing on this since I read the post.

This series was a great recommendation, thanks to whoever put it in this thread.

Has anyone read Germinal by Emile Zola? It was recommended to me a while ago and I’m thinking of reading it next after I finish something else.

I go through 40-50 books a year. Lots of variety. Lots and lots of biographies, and stoic content. Every now and then I mix in a book from my youth. For example I have downed The outsiders, wrinkle in time, and after this book I am going to
The way back machine and diving into Mrs Frisby and the Rats of NIHM. It is always enjoyable to go back and consume the content as an adult.

I read Where the Red Fern Grows in 3rd grade. It was a major accomplishment for me at that point on my life. I often think about going back to it like you have said. That book and Hitchhikers Guide are the two I get a calling for.
