‘27 OL Will Slagle Commits........

If your wife left you for another man, you'd be fine with it? "We had a great 10 year marriage so it's ok that she was looking around behind my back for someone better".
A much better analogy would be if an employee I hired gave me 10 years of dedication and helped lift my business, but got an offer that I couldn't match. This has happened multiple times during my career and I'm still friends with most.

What’s with the Campbell hate? The dude elevated our program. We would have been bottom feeders for the past decade.
He’s at Penn State now and can go anywhere to get players with his unlimited budget. Doesn’t need to come sniffing around our backyard anymore to find talent. As far as I am concerned I hope he never pulls another player from this state again.

Feels good to slam the door on Campbell and Penn State.

Celebrating beating out Penn State and Campbell for a recruit is “Campbell hate”? Cheering for Campbell over ISU is much stranger than “Campbell hate”

Says who? Loser mentality here to think we’re destined to be bottom feeders without Campbell.

Not hard to understand the hate. People are fans, he left for a multitude of reasons and took anyone and anything he could on the way out. Don’t blame him for doing so, but doesn’t mean we have to like him.

It’s almost like people forget this is sports and entertainment. Cheering against teams and former coaches is part of the fun.

It’s not like people on here are threatening him or anything. The people that act like it’s such a horrible thing to root against Campbell need to lighten up. Dude makes multi generational wealth because people cheer for and against teams rabidly.

The only actual serious thing in all this is Campbell talking about Paterno with reverence. Pretty pathetic.

If he left without going General Sherman with the program, I wouldn't say anything.

But he chose to try and burn ISU to the ground so hope he loses every game. Personally I think their D will struggle given the wizard is no longer with them

Agree. I'm not going to

Agree. I'm not going to wish ill will on Campbell or his family, but I will be rooting for them to lose every game, other than when they play Iowa.

A pretty bad analogy.

Marriage is supposed to be a lifetime commitment. Coaching football is a job. Jobs are meant to be stepping stones to the next opportunity. Opportunity can be better job, better pay, better boss or something new.

How many coaches earn the opportunity to stay at a school 10 years?

How many jobs have you had in your working career? How many did you jump ship in less than 10 years?

Campbell was a good football coach but lets not impute magical powers on the guy. He is not the only man capable of improving a Big 12 program.

He isn't the only guy and I expect Jimmy Rodgers to have similar success.

But the other reality, Campbell had the winningest teams in ISU history. Just look at his Conference record compared to prior Cyclone coaches. First Head Coach in over 100 years to have a .500+ record in conference play. I understand people are disappointed he left, but no need to minimize his accomplishments. The were elite for ISU.

The issue is the OP's assertion that ISU would have been bottom feeders without Campbell. That has not been demonstrated at all.

And he stole all your business on his way out the door. More power to MC for taking a new job. Didn't need to leave the cupboard empty on his way out. I give him little credit for what he built since he tore it down on way out.

Like he has a verbal commit from the state of iowa best player for 27. That will die out eventually, but hurts.

Did those employees who left you also take your very best clients who made your business successful?

Players made the decision to leave. Why would they stay here to play for a coach they didn't commit to? They didn't grow up ISU fans, they're looking out for their best interests. I don't understand blaming Campbell for the players leaving. It happens any time a successful coach leaves.
