Totally agree. The problem is you only need to screw up once in a while ot blow up all the good work.Something important to keep in mind is that consistency wins over time, both good and bad. It isn't hard to unintentionally gain 1 pound per month over a period of years. Someone like that might feel lazy and worthless when they're pretty close to the margins.
It's really hard for people to put that into action the other direction. Almost no one is happy losing a pound per month but that's what healthy weight loss/discipline looks like. The margins are small and time wins.
Its like my golf game. I go along steady and focused and par/bogey 8 holes. But the 9th hole I drive OB, chunk my approach and then lip out a putt for a snowman. Well, that snowman ruined the whole round. Just like the guy who brough donuts to work last friday screwed up my whole week of eating right.
And before you say I shouldn't have ate the donut, keep in mind that I have about the same amount of control over plowing my drive OB lol.
