Not sure why CW suggested CMC would be Wisky's first call instead of Leipold if Fickell get fired. Not a great take there IMO.

I tend to agree, but Leipold is 61 after all. There are only like a dozen active FBS coaches in their 60's, so I could see why they Leipold may not be their perfect candidate. Same reason I'd say a guy like Cignetti isn't likely to get a bigger job than Indiana.

Depending on health, Leipold could coach another 10 years or more. That would at least help them right the ship and make it easier for the next guy.

It seemed pretty clear to me that this comment was directed at state legislators whom they would like to provide some additional $$$ to the ISU AD.

.....and Cignetti was Leipold's age when hired by IU. So I highly doubt Leipold's age would be a deterrent at this point.

You realize not all situations are the same, right? Like, it’d be doubtful we’d hire a Leipold if CMC left.
