JTS Improvements - Want More

Wow. That the second time now that someone decided to post the same idiotic thing.

Mocking people putting smiles on the faces of seriously ill kids. Don’t you feel proud?
Matthew 6:2-4
"So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you

lol.

And it’s only Cyclone fans labeling them celebrating their tradition as “virtue signalling”.

You know, like when we celebrate having a stadium named after a black student athlete? Exact same thibg.

Some of you folks are so self unaware that it’s ridiculous.

These are the same people that named their field for a black player, only after it became cool to do so, and because they couldnt handle us getting attention for it.

Its a joke, because we know how so many of them virtue signal anything that supposedly makes them look bad then turn around and make fun of ISU for anything similar, and try to claim they are the ones that invent everything.

I get it.

You hate anything to do with the other team, and desperately look for any excuses to run them down, however lame.

And refuse to face what you’re doing.

You guys be you.

I’m done here.

You must have not had the same experience growing up as most of us when it come to Iowa Fans, and the ones you do know must be very different than what many of us know.

Is all I can say. And Yes I do pretty much hate anything to do with that school.

Im sorry you cant distinguish the difference in people hating the virtue signaling and gas lighting, vs the action itself. There is a reason they threatened to sue ISU for AHF, because they cant handle being called out on their fake BS.

My parents were both huge Iowa fans.

My dad still wore the Cardinal corduroy Walking Cy hat that I gave him whenever he came to Ames.

At my last class reunion, the half dozen Cyclone alums in attendance were swamped by Hawk fans—the weekend of the Iowa/ISU game. We got along fine, a friendly rivalry.

At least two Cyclones sat with the dozens of Hawk fans and alums in the big block of tickets they bought for the game.

Most of the rest of us watched the game in a bar together.

I’m sorry some of you had bad experiences. That doesn’t reflect all Hawk fans—not hardly—and you’re stereotyping from that experience.

It’s easy to stereotype when that type of behavior is the rule rather than the exception. When I see someone wearing Iowa gear, I automatically assume they are a POS. Now, chances are they are just a normal fan that I would get along with fine, but at this point none of them get the benefit of the doubt with me.

Read it again.

In what was posted, there is no separation. No distinction in who was being mocked. Just waving at a medical facility.

And even, “Oh, I wasn’t mocking ALL of them, just the 1% who are virtue signalling!” is really, really really lame.

But you folks keep rationalizing all you want. Everyone knows, we have our ugly fans too.
It was a joke and honestly light hearted. Nobody is mocking sick children.

Looks like we're back to Level 3 on this ****.

1. People who get it.

2. People who don't get it.

3. People who don't get that they don't get it.
Finally, someone gets it!

I appreciate your attempt at a reasonable conversation on this. Unlike the people who just dumb me, don’t attempt a rebuttal, and just…isn’t a good look..

Under this category: “3. People who don't get that they don't get it”, here’s what you folks don’t get.

You feel entitled to regard Hawk fans as you do because of this false impression. Meanwhile, there are those of them who do exactly the same.

Which becomes a self fulfilling prophecy, and only feeds and grows on itself.

Those Hawk fan jackasses only act like jackasses because they think we’re all jackasses.

And you’re each in your own echo chamber. Everyone telling you you’re right.

Whoever chipped in with a Bible verse earlier should toss in the one that fits perfectly here. And you know what it is.

Anyway, that’s it for me. Have a good weekend, all.

Since it apparently didn't register when I posted it 5 weeks ago, here it is again:

It's not about the act of waving. It's never been about the act of waving.

It's about the fact that an idea started online by a few fans as a nice gesture was quickly co-opted by the athletic department, given a HUGE dose of PR/spin, and now we're all supposed to believe that The Wave is simply the greatest tradition in college football, if not all of sports.

It's viewed by many Iowa fans as some type of moral superiority. If you don't wave, you're an *******. If you don't wave long enough (yes, really), you're an *******.

---
Virtue signaling (def.): the sharing of one's point of view on a social or political issue...in order to garner praise or acknowledgment of one’s righteousness from others who share that point of view, or to passively rebuke those who do not.
---

It's not Mecca, for crying out loud. You don't have to turn and wave in the hospital's general direction from whatever stadium you happen to be in at the time.

There's also an incredible irony of one part of the university taking the "we love sick kids" position, while another part of the university has repeatedly stiffed the contractors of the very building where those kids are.

Also, you might want to read the book Hancher vs. Hilton. That would be a start for you.
