***2025 Week 1 (Aug 28-Sept. 1) CFB Games Thread***

JFC. Big XII can't lose all of these games this weekend. Colorado and/or TCU has to come through.

I think Baylor and TCU come through. I didn’t expect Cincy to hang as well as they did. I don’t know what to expect from Colorado, but I’m not expecting a W.

Oh yeah, Baylor too. They definitely need to win.

If the Big12 ends the weekend with this one loss, that’s a great weekend. Road game against Nebraska by one of the worst teams in the conference was going to be a long shot.

Eh, beating a Georgia Tech, UNC or Auburn isn't going to change any opinions whatsoever.

With that being said - I'm not a conference prestige guy. Personally, I like to watch all the competition lose, makes things easier for the only program I give a **** about. If basic common sense was capable of going completely haywire and 15 teams in the B12 somehow managed to go 0-12, I'd be the happiest football fan out there.

The Big 12 needs wins vs. other P4 conferences. It's the only way to change the narrative. It would take time, but it would eventually happen.

Hate to break this to you, but it won't. This is college football, you can win every goddamn game on the schedule and the only thing people will point to is what the program(s) did 30 years ago.

It's just how this exceedingly stupid sport works. Hell, it's a big part of its charm.

let's be honest, Baylor is the most important team we need to get a W. No one cares if you beat any other conf. other than an SEC team. Obviously we need Colorado and TCU to show up.

If we want to change the perception we have to get these games. Just like ISU has to take care of Iowa next week.

Big 12 has literally one and only one way to stay even slightly relevan, even at a miniscule level - and it's winning, and keep winning. The fact that we still have fans that think it matters - at all - in any way - that we used to suck in football in the 80's and 90's - is truly bizarre.

Big 12 winning games is critically important for the future of Iowa State athletics. It is the only weapon in the arsenal, and even then it's like bringing a sword to a gun fight.

i mostly meant that the big 10 (and $EC) thrive on never having to play excessive road games. 8 home and 4 road is an extreme outlier. when was the last time Iowa played a non con road game that wasnt at ISU? Pitt in like 2013?
When was the last time ISU played a traditional P5 team in the non-conference that wasn’t Iowa?

I'm not sure these pre-season games involving B12 teams add to the conference credibility unless the opponent is one of the better teams in the Big 10 or SEC. It would have been fun for UC to beat Nebraska, but I don't see that making much of a difference in league perception. Ideally, Baylor needs to win convincingly over Auburn. TCU needs to win convincingly over UNC. Then, Iowa State need to beat Iowa convincingly. Those will help, but the true way that the Big 12 elevates its status is by winning games against national powers in the playoffs.
