'People are flat-out slobs': Jamie Pollard

You mean that is a horrible return on their money spent, considering that you can buy a 12 pack for the same amount. But hey, I don't give a crap either way. If folks can't sit through a game without drinking beer, I have no problems with them shelling out ridiculous money.
Maybe, the point is that they get to choose that they're going to spend their money on it, get something in return, and the AD gets $X in profit.

Maybe JP, the President and the general counsel aren't concerned about about the budget shortfall, and we don't actually need more profits, which is good news. It's just interesting because they also raised donation requirements, passed on sales tax and increased ticket prices.

Did you listen to his remarks? The ISU president and general counsel have to favor this as well. Pollard said he could jump up and down and insist they go along with him on this, but you can only do that a couple times in your career and this particular issue just isn't worth it.
I don't know why fans think it's simple. Go try to open a bar and see how "simple" it is to sell alcohol.

A lot of people with a lot of opinions. I guess that is what this thread is for. I need to promise myself to not read anymore of this nonsense.

The $2.5 million number in sales is fascinating.
@ $16ea is 156,250 drinks/6 home games = 26,041 drinks sold per game.

That # just seems low to me.

And that's just football.

It's the general counsel thing that catches my ear.

Iowa and UNIs general counsels signed off without incident and this guy is holding things up? Hell, Iowa has had a bunch of alcohol related issues in the past, has more people in a smaller space, no re-entry and it was an almost immediate go for it and Iowa State is sitting here begging for money and turning down 'only' $400k (his numbers aren't right but that's beside the point).

This is all Jamie. He's just deflecting.

Jamie must not think we are slobs if he can only make $400k from beer on 420,000 people throughout a season. It’s worth it if 95% of everyone else is doing it.

Is it? The FY24 numbers have the total for "Program, Novelty, Parking, and Concession Sales" at $2.2 million for football (just $311k for men's basketball). And presumably that includes alcohol already currently sold in Sukup.

I think it's easy to overestimate how much people buy concessions (or alcohol) in-stadium. A lot of people (me included) just won't buy food or drink in the stadium because it's so much more expensive.

All of that could definitely be true.
I just assumed more sales.

Even the $2.8 mil for all 18 sports is eye opening for me when I see Clone Cone lines all winter every mens game at Hilton, LOL.

Still an interesting contradiction to me that selling beer isn't an option because it only brings in maybe $400k while also raising season ticket prices and donation requirements.
Pretty sure he said it is an option and one that may have used.
