No, we’re better with 2 studs. And the others will have 200-500 including TEs if you have two stud WRs.Would you trade two 1000 yard receivers for four 500 yard receivers?
lol. I never said it was the sole purpose of action. Matter of fact, I’ve never known CMC to do anything for one sole reason. He’s all about killing as many proverbial birds with one stone as you can. They can be, but not necessarily the sole purpose of action.
It’s all a means to an end….and I can assure you, when they are calling plays during a game, or putting Cooper in at CB, it’s not to increase draft stock.
Wrong. No, we’re better with 2 studs. And the others will have 200-500 including TEs if you have two stud WRs.
10-4.lol. I never said it was the sole purpose of action. Matter of fact, I’ve never known CMC to do anything for one sole reason. He’s all about killing as many proverbial birds with one stone as you can.
You’d never turn down having two studs. There were very, very few teams in the country who wouldn’t have traded their top two guys for our top two. Obviously Ohio st wouldn’t, but there wasn’t many beyond them. The problem was that the coaches and/or Rocco absolutely did not trust anyone else. It’s pretty obvious why Burkle piled up the yards late in the year. He gained that trust and teams were so concerned about Higgins and Noel that he ended up in a lot of mismatch situations.Wrong.
Last year defenses only had to focus on two guys. Making them spread their attention to three wideouts far is better—TE’s and RB’s aside—including when one of your “studs” is getting a breather. Putting as much stress as you can on a defense is always optimal.
go take a peak at the last couple of years depth charts week 1. Higgins nor Noel nor Xavier nor Butler nor Lazard ever had an OR next to their name before a breakout season. They defined their role in the offense before ever playing a real snap. Maybe Overby or Eskildsen are just that good and I am completely wrong. But from my reading between the lines, we don't have that level of talent in the room this year.
I think its the open field speed and moves - exaggerated, fairly or unfairly, by Snowmageddon. You can't teach that.
I think on one of the W&B pods, they said something about him struggling with a different blocking scheme last year? If so, that would make some sense wrt having trouble getting thru that first level. It would be great if last year was just a soph slump, scheme adjustment thing, and he ends up being a Dude.
May God forever bless Kyle Kempt, but I wonder how many yards Lazard would have had with Brock or Rocco. That's not some bold statement. You mean we lost two day two NFL draft picks from the WR room and we're not going to immediately replace them with someone new having a top 10 receiving season in school history? Oooh what a shocker that'd be
Don't need to have a Higgins/Noel in order to have a deep WR room and productive passing game.

Every week, It's in the ISU notes, page 7Anyone have a link to a high quality version of the depth chart. The ISU website has the new roster, both alphabetical and numerical, but still has the depth chart from the end of last year.
Not everything that's said has a "link"Oh really? Link? That's quite the statement.
Who's melting down? Are you surprised? It’s @cyclone4L , he’s probably already dm-ing players asking how they feel being ORs on the depth chart.
Melting down and harassing players are his thing.
Sowell is, and he's really friggin good. X is a giant question markAre Sowell and Townsend healthy? CMC is notorious for listing guys second, with the "or" designation, no matter their health status
Except for the fact that they only have to cover 2-3 on any given down.I find the debate about whether it’s better to have 2 1,000 yd receivers vs 4 500 receivers very interesting.
I think it might be better to have the 4 500 yd receivers honestly. If I’m an opposing defense, I think having to worry about 4 is harder than 2.
Higgins ran a 4.47 with a 39 inch vertical at 6'4" 214 lbs and Noel ran a 4.39 with a 41.5 inch vertical. You're saying Sowell and Townsend are better athletes? Both Higgins and Noel are elite at their position athletically.Sowell is the best WR on the team and is more athletic than Higgins, and Xavier Townsend might be the best athlete Campbell has ever had at ISU on the offensive side of the ball. Does that help ease any concern you might have? I think you're really letting this get to you when you shouldn't. It's Monday of game week where your Iowa State Cyclones are going to be the marquee game to open up the 2025 college football season. Campbell isn't going to reveal his hand, especially to a conference opponent, in week 0. Take a step away, close your eyes, and take some deep breaths for a minute.
