One thing I’ve noticed this week is all of the reporters pushing for two deeps—and the coaches pushing back.

On Monday, Clanton said it was too early, that they’d evaluate the rest of the week. On Tuesday, the very next day, someone asked Mouser the very same question, about the OL—and he simply deferred to Clanton, saying he’d make the decision.

Which I thought was an very wise way of deferring to the expert.

Then they asked Heacock about defensive two deeps…and he said there were too many guys, it was too early.

So Thursday, a whole two days later, they ask CMC.. as if he has some greater insight, or is going to overrule his position coaches.

And he says it’s too early (shocker! Who could have guessed?), and says that there are too many guys to evaluate, and see how they all best fit together.

Sense a theme here?

Indeed, CMC very kindly goes on to explain more fully that it may even be the first bye week before they settle on regular two deeps.

So…any bets on how soon someone asks about the two deep again?
