'People are flat-out slobs': Jamie Pollard

Yeah, I don't go to concession stands because i either would have to leave prior to the end of the first half, or else I would miss the entire half time show, to sit down maybe right before the kick, only to be yelled at by a "new" host about some irrelevant stuff to the game. I might buy some stuff if I could get it and still see the halftime, but not possible.

One only needs to look at how many are inside nearly the whole game late in the season to see that's the real draw.
I still think it's a mix of both. Yes, people absolutely use it to get out of the elements, but that bar has a line the whole game.

How much of the issue of our concessions being a trainwreck is associated with the groups working the stand being a fundraising effort for some youth group rather than a dedicated hospitality/food service team managing the concessions?
ISU does have a food service company managing concessions - Levy.
There is a mix: groups working concessions as a fundraiser for their organization (including many ISU student organizations) and then there are also hourly paid employees.
Many work every game, season after season.

Its always been weird that people acted like it couldn't be.

I doubt we'd ban reentry right away, but if the goal is to maximize revenue from alcohol sales, I could see it causing a hurdle.

Wait in line for a $15 Busch Light? Or race out to your car to slam a couple of your own beers like you've always done?

I do think it’s time to start selling in the stadium as pretty much everyone else is. I’ll reiterate that I hop the do it the right way and separate from the other concessions to move things along.

This is where I'm at too. I'm a small donor season ticket holder who has seen all costs increase the last few years. JP needs to be careful, season tickets were down this year and that trend will continue if you he continues to go deeper into the fans pockets. I know several people who are/were donors that didn't renew their seats this year.
I've read that a big reason why the tickets are down this year is due to the Ireland trip. A lot of regular donors did not get season tickets due to going all in on the Ireland packages. Hoping the higher numbers return next year, but it's understandable that some people decided to put all of their eggs in one basket on this once in a lifetime trip.

I imagine some people didn't renew for that reason but I know there are a lot of other factors for the reduction in season ticket sales.

Economics - when you raise the prices, less people buy tickets.

This is very true. My brother is the biggest football fan you will ever meet. He and his wife fully planned to give up their Section E seats and move into the SEZ sometime in the next few years. However his wife has had health issues and was having a hard time walking from the lots as well as issues climbing the stairs. To my surprise he told me after last season that it was all getting to be too much and they didn't renew their tickets this year - not moving to the SEZ; just flat out cancelled their tickets. I was floored.

Her health issues were just one problem. The rising costs and everything else contributed as well. This is a guy who still goes back to visit his high school's current football team from time to time and he graduated from there almost 50 years ago.
You're free to spend your money however you please, but Iowa State has extremely cheap season tickets compared to most P4 schools. Our fans have to be willing to spend more if we want to compete at this level. JP isn't digging into fans pockets. He's asking our fans to keep up with the rest of the sport and keep us competitive. It's a choice.

What does down mean as a percentage or number?

What is "a lot" of "regular donors?"

I ended up leaving the endzone club after 7 or more seasons for a better view. I don’t think we ended up saving any money but the drinks and club has lost a lot of its appeal for me at this point in my life. I’d rather know who’s in at RB and be able to see who’s not performing on the O-Line.

Yeah, my brother stayed in the top half of Section E for a lot of years even though he could have easily moved down. He liked the superior views and being able to easily see all 22 on plays. I sit in the end zone and I do a lot of mental gymnastics like noting the line of scrimmage and the line to gain before every play and then comparing that to the spot after every play so I can even from the end zone usually tell if it is a first down or the yards to gain before it is announced. It isn't great for seeing plays develop or appreciating line play.
