'People are flat-out slobs': Jamie Pollard

I'm pro beer sales.

Pro not letting people leave at half time and pro not using volunteer organizations run the concessions.
Concessions in most stadiums are run fine with “volunteer organizations” - if they have proper training by the concessions operator, have competent supervision, and plenty of food inventory throughout the game.
However, JTS’ concessions are operated by Levy Restaurants, who provide none of those.
And, Levy is not held accountable by Pollard and the game management staff.

Would love to see the numbers on minor, major and division 1 revenue sports that don't sell beer in their stadiums. IT has to be just us and BYU at this point, right?

If they are going to keep jacking up donation and ticket prices while the games stretch to 4 hours, at least throw us a bone and allow beer sales.

In the P4 I think it's just us, Baylor, byu, and Utah (prohibited by State law) from what I could find on a quick look the other day. So a couple private religious schools, a school in a state known for weird alcohol laws, and Iowa State.

Its absurd, honestly, that ISU is on that list.

Again, profits are small marginally at best.
Yeah, we keep hearing this, but wouldn’t $1 million help? I mean, I personally could care less, but too say it’s insignificant but then ask the masses to buy a pizza and a 6 pack of Ames Lager, because “it all adds up” is a bit hypocritical. We need money, so exhaust all sources.

Sounds like the old “honor before victory” sentiment. Hell, it’s college athletics, we have faught so hard to get where we are, let’s not intentionally continue to fall behind again

Screen name checks out.

Also, do you ever go to a restaurant that serves alcohol? Is everyone falling down drunk and tipsy?
A restaurant? Seriously? Yes, I've been to a restaurant where they serve alcohol and no, not everyone is falling down drunk and tipsy. But I've also been to a sports bar that doubles as a restaurant and everyone is absolutely falling down drunk and/or tipsy. You're comparing apples and oranges in one of the most outrageously stupid posts I've ever witnessed.

I've been quite a bar fly in a past life and at no point was 'everyone falling down drunk or tipsy'.

There's sometimes the occasional outlier who's off their rocker but it's pretty rare.

I'd like to know if the amount of full blown drunkards has gone up at stadiums that serve vs those that don't.

Why did I read this thread? I knew id hate this thread before I even opened it.

I do think we should sell Alcohol at the stadium. It would be nice. I also think it would make the hellish concessions even worse.

Overall, I guess I just don't care either way that much.

Late November against Houston or whatever, maybe knowing you can walk around and get a drink in the stadium to warm up would entice a few more people to get to Ames for those games.

I'm not going to die on a hill for beer in JTS but if there's money on the table then why not.
