I mean, I am obviously super happy to have Evan, but the disappointment is that Ortega is a bonified title contender. It is amazing to have the depth we have, and we are lucky to have Dresser to thank for building such a strong, deep team.

Ortega has always been a pipe dream in my opinion and I never truly thought that was going to happen (get eligibility status from NCAA)

Who said he was our second choice? Winning takes place by getting your hand raised, and Evan has done that plenty. He’s proven he’s the guy
Feel like you’re getting unnecessarily defensive about this. By all accounts Ortega would have taken the spot handily if he was eligible, that’s all I was saying. You will notice I put “second choice” in quotes to emphasize that.

No I've just always chosen to live in reality. These superstar foreigners are always extremely athletic and well accomplished freestyle wrestlers but have a lot to learn about folkstyle, that's all.

And until they get out on the mat and get their hand raised, it means nothing. Getting ridden out from bottom is a real thing and look what happened to an excellent Japan rep wrestling for Okie state, he got majored by Drake 11-1 and wasn't the guy come conference, He's going to rep Japan this year on their World team, right? Folkstyle is just different and dream land doesn't exist. So I'm just saying I like Evan Frost, he gets his hand raised a lot.

You’re right we have no experience getting Cuban free stylers to have success.

Never said that, but it took both of them quite a few matches to catch on and learn how to wrestle folk style in live matches. They weren't just handed titles, they've had to earn it the long and hard way. So handing someone the spot over Evan who is proven is wild. Your words, not mine.

"I’m certainly not mad that our “second choice” is Evan frost"

The words of mine you posted in no way imply giving him the spot regardless of performance, as I mention in my other reply it was my impression that he "would have taken the spot handily", as in won it. Again, don't see what you're getting so mad about or if you just don't know how to read but chill out. I love the Frosts.

I have no dog in the fight between Frosty and R, I think the world of both of them, but I will say that R has been here for 3 years now and he's unbelievably talented in both disciplines. A big-time recruit said it was like wrestling RBY on steroids when you wrestle with R.

It's just different watching him move/float on the mat in the room compared to everyone up to David. I hope we all get a chance to see it before Father Time takes over and wins.

So a lineup of
Poulin
Frost
Frost
Ech
Zerban
Euton/riggins
Gaitan/powe
Dean/bartelt
Elam
Bastida

Gives us 8 top 10 guys according to Flo. Going to be an insanely fun year if we can get everyone to live up to their potential.

Is zerban going to be a lock?

Probably not a lock, but the roster only has him Kane and Stotts listed at 157. Johnson bumping up to challenge him seems like the only realistic scenario where he doesn’t win it. Even then I’m not sure Johnson takes it.

I was told Riggins is thinking about cutting down to 157, walking around at about 175. I don’t see that happening, but was told it’s a real possibility. Not sure what that says about Euton or Zerban
