Bear with me, years ago (2016, to be specific), I remember being at dinner with my wife. It was maybe early July, like it is now. I said to her, "I really think this might be the year. I have a really good feeling about it." If you were a Cubs fan from way back, you know the line. We all said it many times. But that year was different.

I've watched the practice tapes of Pleta. Also, did you notice, he is listed as 235 pounds at 6' 11"? Did you also notice he is listed as a FORWARD?? They guy crashes the boards! I think, maybe (just maybe), this is the year! I think we might be better than last year, by quite a bit, too. This might be the year we hang a Final Four banner, and I'm not just being a homer.

My expectations are that this team will not be quite as good as last year’s team, especially our guard play. Jones and Gilbert (when healthy) were both special players that will be difficult to replace.

Maybe if one of the freshmen turn out to be a diaper dandy, or Milan turns into Nowitzki we could be better.

Certainly not easy to fill Cujo/Gilbert void. Heise has to maintain his late-season improvement, hoping Nelson can be some help and if a freshman can earn some minutes, drop-off shouldn't be too steep..

Agree, Milan going up a notch (with consistency, for one thing) and Jefferson gets more comfortable in his role.

The new bigs transfers will be interesting to see. Hunch tells me it'll be as productive overall as Jackson-Chat, although in different ways.

I've only watched a couple of clips of him. That guy is a beast. If he grasps the system, I'm also quite optimistic. And I'm never optimistic. Must be old age cause hope is running out ;)

I'm excited for next year, but I'm not putting much in the way of expectations on Pleta. If he is a consistent contributor great, but I don't think we need him to be to match or exceed last years accomplishments.

I'm prepared to hold you personally accountable if a final four doesn't happen this year.

Wishful thinking but hopefully this is the year that the 'looks like a Final Four team in any part of the season that's not the Final Four' narrative gets squashed.

The only teams that 'look' like Final Four teams are the ones...that make the Final Four.

Nelson is the one I am excited to see and will gauge the teams success on. If he can be an efficient 12/5/3 guy then the sky is the limit.

Pleta being a contributor would be a huge boost.

Toure and Batemon are also guys I have high hopes for.
