Again, as a twins fan and know nothing of your guys season other than it’s going well, what’s gone right and wrong for you guys? Honest question.

Tucker is a stud, PCA has developed into an MVP caliber player already and Suzuki is having a career year. Busch has also developed into one of the best 1st baseman in the majors.

The bullpen sucked early but the front office managed to put together a competent pen by trying out some reclamation projects like Flexen, Pomeranz, and Theilbar.

Not much has really gone wrong yet except Justin Steele needing surgery and is normally the most reliable pitcher. Horton was our top pitching prospect and is probably year early in the majors due to the Steele and Assad injuries.

To me right now if you take a snapshot of this team compared to expectations coming into the season this should be an "all in" trade deadline if the Ricketts and Hoyer are serious about contending. We missed on trading or signing another top end of the rotation starter and after Steele went down with injury then Shota for a bit and now Taillon that's a lot of missed starts to account for for your top 3 pitchers in the rotation coming into this season. Boyd has been incredible, Horton has shown flashes of potential but if this team is going to make a run down the stretch it has to address the starting rotation at the deadline. Even with healthy Shota and Boyd the top 3-4 guys in the rotation are not going to win a playoff series. You don't trade what you did to get Tucker to not give this team a chance to compete. Probably would not hurt to get another late inning bullpen arm too but 1 or 2 quality starters, a bullpen arm, and a guy for the bench that can hit is the trade deadline shopping list IMO.

Not a flamethrower by any stretch. Likely not gonna rack up many K's but at his best does a good job of limiting hard contact. He was brought in over the offseason to be a long relief guy but has been forced into a starting role since mid-April due to injuries. Overall he's been pretty solid on the year but had a few bad games.

I think I picked the wrong day to be at Target Field last night...

From the cheap seats it sure looked like it just wasn't the Cubs' night. Lot's of warning track balls. So many balls hit that were at the fielders while similar balls hit by the Twins just found the gap. How many foul balls were just a foot on the wrong side of the wall resulting in an eay out? I can remember two for sure that if they were just 2 feet further out they are out of play.

Yep. Otherwise the pickings seem slim. A couple of 100 OPS+ guys out there, and that's about it. I'm holding Caissie at this point for a genuine TOR pitcher, but I'll send Alcantara and a nobody prospect to the Snakes for Suarez. He is a rental after all.

Sounds like Spencer Turnbull will be joining the organization sometime soon.

Suarez is my favorite 3B option. Sounds like Bregman may be put on the market if he won't extend with the Red Sox, but I just don't realistically see the Cubs taking him and taking on $80M over the course of the next two years unless Tucker agrees to an extension and we know what space we have.

He's a better bench hitter than what the Cubs have. But based on what I've read, he's not with the Yankees anymore because he wants to start at 2B (but is a defensive liability due to lack of range) and injury history prevents him from playing 3B.

Doesn't sound like a good fit for Cubs who need a player who can start/platoon at 3B/1B.
