I know his name is Christian but whenever he gets announced I only hear, “Oh we saw you Clifford Franklin”.
He"ll be DFA when they activate Hodge if not sooner. Had a few good outings at first but you are seeing now why the Mets let him go.
Shota threw 68 pitches in 4 scoreless, assuming he’s done. Check that opened the fifth with a three pitch K.
First inning opened with an eight pitch K to Mitchell who’s also on a rehab assignment. Then closed the inning with his second K.
Second and third wasn’t tested but his balls were often non competitive.
Began the fourth with a line drive double to the wall in left center. After that he was sharp.
4.1IP 2 hits 1 walk 0 runs 8K
After the 3rd my uneducated opinion says he needs another start but the fourth was vintage Shota so who knows. My guess next start is for Chicago after throwing 71 tonight.

Just checked the gamecast, wow that looks like a brutal outing. Guessing he will be rehabbing a bit before they activate him and even then may be optioned to Iowa when he is if he doesn't have command of his pitches.
Sitting a few games might be the best thing for Shaw. It helped Amaya last season. Also, if Shaw continues to scuffle, nothing wrong giving him 50-60% of starts.
Also, the Cubs have to figure out what they have in Brujan and Berti. Only way to find out is to give them regular, spot starts before the trade deadline. As well as the Cubs have scored runs so far this season, I don't feel they have the luxury of keeping two position players who have basically been pinch runners and both possess little slug as PH's.
Umm, no. I think it's already well established what these guys bring. Berti has been around a long time and Brujan just will never hit enough to be regular player.
My thoughts too. Brujan has been a waste of a roster space IMO and will be the first to go someone becomes available that is a significant upgrade or they decide that someone in Iowa can give them more production. The Cubs are keep a pretty consistent lineup this season which is a change from recent years where they gave the bench guys a lot more starts. Between Berti, Brujan, and Turner there isn't 1 guy you could go to in a PH situation that would concern teams. There are prospects in Iowa playing well that could be upgrades but the problem is they need more than a few random AB and spot starts if you call them up to be able to make the adjustment to MLB pitching and be an effective bench player that maybe gets a few AB a week and make a spot start or late inning replacement. I could see if there was an injury that 1 of those guys could come up and play an every day role and if they succeed would be prepared to handle a bench role later but it's asking a lot of a guy with little to no MLB experience to come up and sit on the bench and be able to replicate the hitting he was doing in Iowa with the few chances they'll get plus the pressure of wanting to do something to show you belong in the big leagues too.
Yeah, all the time when I played. It didn't seem to affect Rodriguez in center. PCA is my favorite player but he has alot to improve on and needs to learn Wrigley.
