Royals management being criticized for not waiting until June 15 and giving up a year of club control.
Great decision by the Royals. Were in it to win now, not to manipulate service time.

Also that’s incorrect. They won’t lose a year of club control unless he finishes top 2 in rookie of the year. New rules. They’ll just have to pay him a few million more because he will be arbitration eligible sooner.

The ‘few million more’ is what is being questioned for the two weeks the Royals could have waited. But, if he tears it up and wins three or four games the Royals must think it’s worth it.

They will likely sign him to an extension anyway if they can that will cover the arbitration years. And if having him up sooner helps them reach the playoffs then it will be all worth it. And it helps the franchises reputation with players to not play games with service time.

Plus, as a fan - What do I care what John Sherman does with his money? I’d rather it goes to a young player then sits in his big horde of cash.

Help is on the way to overturn some of these blind ump calls.
I went to a St Paul game last week. I am very much a baseball traditionalist. But seeing that strike/ball system in real life totally changed my view. It’s pretty crazy we don’t use that at the top level.

Judge actually watched that one which he rarely (never?) does. Usually just puts his head down and starts a trot. Obviously because of the rookie pitcher's NYY dissing comments. Last night versus KC he hit a 469 foot bomb and immediately went head down and homerun trot.

They tested it some in Spring Training where the umps still called the game, but there was a challenge system where they used the automated calls. It was quick, a barely disrupted the game.

Ok baseball junkies, i went to the twins game last weekend and they had this auction service there with memorabilia. I nearly bought this on the spot. How much would you pay for this absolute gem?

Something along the lines of if the Yanks were the last team left for him to play for he'd quit baseball rather than play for them. A lot of plan silly hate from rival fans but it's all sort of silly and immature stuff. Made worse when the supposed adults in the room act that way.

I've been a Yank fan since little boy me adored Mickey Mantle. Hate the Red Sox? Nope. Gonna hate on Yazi, Freddy Lynn and Jim Rice or the legacy of Ted Williams? Plus it was hard to hate on them when they were managed by Terry Francona.

The last time I was even agitated a little was when Ortiz was casting shade on A-Rod for his drug cheating when he himself had tested positive. A-Rod is far game, just not maybe for someone who has tested positive themselves.
