Back in it now, 5-5 currently in 1st set.Not a good start for Gauff.
Alcaraz hasn't been sharp in a major since Wimbledon of 2024. If I had to take one of these 2 today who ends up with more slams I think it's Sinner. He's just more technical. Alcaraz has bigger variations in his levels. It should be a great rivalry for years to come. I hope I'm wrong btw and Alcaraz ends up the superior playerSinner still hasn't lost a set, takes the 1st one 6-4.
Tennis needed this to set the stage for post big 3 era. Individual sports are better when there's a few guys at Top that dominate and build a rivalryThis sh*t is amazing.
What did you think of TNT's coverage?Recency bias, but maybe the best match of all time it's certainly up there. Culminating with perhaps the greatest tie breaker ever played by Alcaraz. Somehow, Alcaraz and Sinner have the potential to make the sport more popular than even the Big 3 did.
And they can set all kinds of records unless a 3rd challenger comes along like Novak was to Nadal and Federer.Recency bias, but maybe the best match of all time it's certainly up there. Unfortunately, I mostly had to watch the final with no volume. I loved Agassi throughout the tournament though. What did you think of TNT's coverage?
Other players are going to have the same problem everyone had during the Big 3 era. You might beat Sinner, or Alcaraz on a great day, but to win a grand slam, you'll probably have to go through both of them. And they can set all kinds of records unless a 3rd challenger comes along like Novak was to Nadal and Federer.
Just imagine the grand slam count for Federer and Nadal if Novak didn’t show up.
I hope another player rises to the top to make it even more interesting. This may be too strong of a take perhaps but I don’t want to watch the same 2 guys in every final. That gets to be boring after couple years.
