FWIW, Long has earned his cup of coffee at this point, examples like Mervis suggest there aren’t many chances for these guys. And before someone says this isn’t the favors business but the prove it business, I get that, but kids want to see if an org will do them a friendly before signing with them, so there is some tangential value in this type of transaction.

Jesse Rogers suggesting Merrill Kelly or Zac Gallen will likely be available. Not crazy about either of them (Gallen having a horrible year after being really good the last few years), but interesting nonetheless

Ok but I’d say he has a decent shot of getting through waivers. If they kept him with the team knowing it’s temporary he likely wouldn’t choose FA.

Long bats righty so eventually he’s replacing Turner. 23 y/o hitting .344 at AAA sounds like a keeper

12 pitchers is more than enough for the playoffs

Brujan would not be a loss if he is claimed or elects free agency. Got kids at Iowa right now that would be better a better option than him. The problem is getting them enough AB to not hurt their trade value if they would be in play at thw deadline. Right now the offense and bench is not a problem as Counsell doesn't tinker with the lineup much so the bench hasn't been an issue.

Been saying this back to last season. Not doing him any favors in development by sitting him against lefties either. This is the 1 thing I hate about over reacting to analytics as it doesn't help the player learn to hit certain pitching if youndont give him enough opportunities to adjust. Especially young guys that haven't been in the big long enough to have seen enough at bats. They don't put the kid gloves on PCA against lefties.
